Can I ask why you would support France over Wales?

I spend half the year living there and I like the way they play rugby ( when their tails are up). I had too much of gloating Max Boyce and his f***ing leek and crappy Pontypool front row songs/ I was there bollocks, when Wales were really good and I've always wanted them to lose since. I'd want anyone to win rather than the Welsh in fairness.

Despite having Irish, Scottish and French grandparents (and only one English one) I'm 100% English in everything. I find it really weird that you get these English born and bred people with an Irish grandad (like me) who suddenly start believing that they're 'Irish' simply because it sounds more romantic than having an allegiance to boring old (and nasty old) England. The Six Nations always brings 'em out. Just sad fuckers with low self-esteem desperately searching for an identity I guess.

Even our perennial failures and under-achievement (Rugby in 2003 and football in 1966 aside) can't sway me. England till I die!

England. I do try to dislike the little Celtic nations at international level for their pettiness but can't find it in me.

It might be a genuine feeling perchance?

I support England.

I don't really pay much attention to the other 4 but if they are on, I might half heartedly want them to win. Friends, extended family etc.

My other is Spain. Half Spanish. The only time I don't want them to win is when they play England.

It might also be that it's exactly as brovion called it , i know someone with two irish great grandparents who describes himself as irish, despite never even having been there, he is as brovion so accurately described a

dig54;4443199 no one ever supports england from the other nations ![/QUOTE said:
There is a so much truth in that :lolol:

Have to admit I could never support Wales, Scotland or Ireland though, and I'm half Irish.

mine and andrews dad was born in scotland, and with a surname like "stewart" there's obviously some more scottish blood lurking around somewhere (also some on my mums side)

grew up mainly supporting scotland but years of utter embarrassment has left me fairly apathetic......support england more now (born here, grew up here, only been to scotland like twice).......generally cheer on scotland in whatever sport they're valiantly losing in, but can't drum up much enthusiasm

England, England, England !!!

& come on NZ in the rugger as I still want us to remain as the only Northern Hemisphere team to have won it (small comfort I know but I am very petty).
