Recently, I watched 'A Serbian Film'. Bloody hell, that was hard going. It will shock and disgust you in equal measure. It's about an ex-porn star who is persuaded to go back into making a series of skin flicks but things then get weird, sick and very very twisted. Not for the faint-hearted.

I love the Tartan Extreme movies. Visitor Q and the Audition are quite shocking too. They take no prisoners, those Japs and Koreans with their cinema.

I also watched Martyrs recently - I saw it got a mention in this thread earlier. It's more like 2 films in one because the first half has very little bearing on the second half. Both bits will make you wince though.

And contrary to what the critics tell you, Baise Moi is also a very good film. I think it qualifies as horror but I saw it as a post-modern feminist movie. Honestly, I did*

I'd love to give that a go but i'd bet the print's long gone. Those old 70's childhood 'shit yourself' tv moments great to re-live!

One that sticks in my mind is the public information film for not playing on the railways..it was done in an it's a knockout kind of way with 2 teams of kids (red & blue i think) scoring points by playing chicken on the line and lobbing bricks through the train windows..the final 'great tunnel walk' had em all walking through a tunnel into an oncoming train!

If i remember some woman fainted when it was shown on 'Nationwide' and was the talk of the school for days!

I saw 'Don't Look Now' when I was about 12 and that really did freak me out.

I saw this when it first came out, it really spooked me. Only a few months beforehand I had made a brief visit to Venice and walked through a few back-streets. I stopped and took a photo at EXACTLY the same spot where Donald Sutherland finds a child's shoe floating in the water.

A really  moment....

I remember that well. I was about 6 or 7 at the time. Really scared me. It was called the Finishing Line

The Finishing Line - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Good call matey...BUT... the worst one, of that ilk, was set on a farm and the kids involved get killed in a variety of disturbing ways...

Particularly impactful were the one falling between the tractor and trailer...the one drinking the poison then screaming in agony in the middle of the night (long shot of farmhouse...one light goes on!)

But the WORSEST was the kid drowning in the slurry pit.

f*** me.

But for Spooky + Horny, HAS To be "Picnic at Hanging Rock" - Peter Weir c 1980.

That's when all this pan-pipe music started up..

This film hasn't been on TV in ages that I have noticed.

There is an old British cult film about a lost group of people in an underground station, shut off (a la Chile miner) for decades by a roof collapse. They turn into cannibals and then break out and grab and eat Tube passengers, somewhere near St Pauls on the Central Line I think.

Saw it once about two years ago late on C4, a bit ghoulish if you've travelled on the Tube regularly. What's it called?

In terms of recent(ish) stuff, I went to the cinema to see The Ring when it first came out, not really having a clue what it was about. There's a grotesque flashback moment when they discover a dead girl in her bedroom, her face all twisted and her head sort of lolls forward, that was 'orrible.

That's one of the moments that sticks out in my mind as well in any recent horror.

the "finishing line" and the above farm safety film are both on youtube. Both of these films left me feeling a bit ill after watching them as a very young lad at school
