I think TC spamming the board with something like 40 messages in under 24hrs - many of which were one word or a single smiley - had a more detrimental effect on NSC.
I locked one thread and sent TC a warning.
How many messages did I delete? None.

Why are you calling Sam a prick? His name is Sam, his nickname is Sambo. Just like someone called Jim might be called Jimbo. What's offensive about that? I know for a fact my ex-girlfriend of three years, who's Indian, would see nothing wrong. I think she'd see Sambo as the nickname of someone called Sam and not some racist message on the back of a football shirt.

Safeway's posting about it was tongue in cheek - even I remember that. I was amazed by the number of people who jumped on it. Sambo has been called such for weeks with no comment, then as soon Safeway stoked it up a bit people went crazy.
Ultimately, if Sambo is Sam's name so far as him and his friends and family are concerned then so be it. If my Bengali girlfriend got the hump because of Packie Bonner's name I'd tell her not to be so bloody daft. But then she's aware of his name and she didn't bat an eyelid when she first heard it. Sam’s nickname being Sambo is not the same thing as far right groups hanging blacks, the police discriminating against minorities, psycho xenophobes nail bombing Indians in Brick Lane or people on the terraces abusing the “******” on the other team.
