Definately ... been there twice now ... its a bit quiet but that was the main reason for going. The first time we went we hired a car .. didnt bother hiring one last year as a) the Italian drivers are 'kin nuts! and b) theres a perfectly good ferry service for getting around. Instead we arranged a taxi through the hotel I think it was £150 round trip (which divided by four wasnt bad).
Cannero Riviera itself is a small village but there are a few eateries within walking distance should you get bored with eating in the hotel..
I recommended it to a mate and his new lady and they never left the hotel!

The staff are all very friendly ... the Matre D (Raphale - top bloke) used to work in Chichester and raves about Harvey's Bitter ...

Id stick my neck out and say its one of the nicest places Ive ever been to ..

I've no idea who you are, but for some reason I trust you. I'm off to the Alps in the Summer for a couple of weeks, and think we'll pop over to this place for a few days, cheers for the tip!

Will probably pair it up with a couple of days near Lake Como, don't suppose you know anywhere there as well do you...?! Although I've found a nice looking place in Bellagio that I might give a go.

Managed to talk her round to somewhere that might not cost the EARTH.

Hvar can be quite Cafe del Mar: carpe-diem-hvar.com :: Carpe Diem

Dubrovnik is a world heritage site, any of the islands (Brac, Rab, several 100 more) are very pretty, not expensive and a good laugh.

Can give you some tips on Bellagio if you need them. Which hotel are you considering?

PS Bellagio without doubt the best place to stay around Como - the lake is like an upside down Y shape with Ballagio in the cup of the Y - so one road in one road out makes it less of a rat run than many of the italian lakes towns.

Lecce in Puglia in the very south is really nice, some of the best food in Italy and that's saying something.
