It’s normal that transfer fees are paid by instalments over several years. All clubs operate that way including us.

It’s completely unrelated to profit/loss or FFP calculations. It’s purely an internal cash flow matter.

Yeah, true. Ok. Put another way, if we’re only getting £25m for the next year, how attractive is that compared to keeping him and potentially having a really good Europa League run and another exciting season domestically? I’m not saying we’d make an extra £25m if he stays - just that we’ve got an owner who will place a value on ‘glory’ too. Chances are we’d still sell Caicedo for a huge fee next summer. Yes, absolutely, but the apparently exorbitant wages are also factored in to the BIG club annual reporting. That’s why Chelsea are trying to drive DOWN weekly wages but guarantee huge contract length. They are not offering anyone at 21 £200k a week over 8 years.
