Read the other day that Conner Gallagher is a ready made replacement for Caicedo. If that's the case why get rid of him and buy Caicedo?

If Moises joins Chelski, then he is a f***ing idiot (with a large bank balance). I would never wish him well there. Would understand City, Arsenal or Liverpool but Chelsea.

I wonder if anybody's considered Colwill's view on all this? He's enjoyed himself playing for Brighton - maybe he'd rather stay here and not go back to Chelsea; unikely I suppose, because Chelsea will pay him a lot more. But looking at it longer term (a difficult concept for PL players and their voracious agents, I know) he's only, what - 19? 20? so a couple of years at Brighton, playing in Europe, learning his trade, developing, breaking through to the England team (and all the while earning about £3M a year) as a stepping stone to a much bigger move, to a much bigger and better club would be a pretty good plan.

Chelsea would want a pretty hefty sell-on clause, which is fair enough. It would be great though if he would start pushing for a move from Chelsea, turning down a new contract and threatening to play out his time and eventually leave on a free if he doesn't get the move he wants now. Oh boy, bring it on, PERLEEEASE! £40M plus Colwill for Caicedo would be a great transfer deal.

Losing Caicedo is not w option for me, too important. BUT if it happens, then yes, Colwill needs to be part of that.

The problem is, given the narrative seems to be 'he wants to leave and has had assurances he can leave' how will he react to not going this summer?
He was exemplary after the January bid, but he might just look at the Mac transfer (obviously entirely different) and create an agent fuelled fuss.
I suspect we will be looking for the 100million mark, something like 90 plus add ons likely to be very hard to turn down.

Isn't the rest of the sentence something like '...as long as our valuation is reached.'?

The club aren't simply going to GIVE him away (relatively speaking) just because it's his "DREAM to be play for [insert top, TOP club here] at the highest level".

Trouble is Chelsea have been firm in stating he's not for sale, he'll be an integral part of the team for years to come etc etc. Even if we could make colwill part of any deal, I don't see how they could row back from that position without looking even more incompetent.

The Russian paid for Chelsea to be the club they are today. I know a few old school Chelsea fans who stopped going when the money arrived and tourists started to take over the place.

I remember going to Brighton games in the old third division, sitting on a rickety temporary stand in front of a gate of 3,000. The Gambler paid for Brighton to be the club we are today.

I get your point and I'm clearly being facetious but let's not pretend we would be where we are without significant investment. We're just damned lucky that the money came from a life-long fan.

I would also add we have achieved recent success with one of the smallest budgets in the league so whilst yes Bloom has built what we are today it’s been done in the right way.
