"unless we're trying to offload (which obviously we're not)" - in reality I think we are (trying to offload). Sure we'd like a player of his quality to stick around for as long as possible, but I think there's acceptance - which started with RDZ saying he deserved to play at a higher level - that he's going to go this summer, so we want that to happen as smoothly as possible.

"I'm sure several other clubs would like him" - are there any? There's seemingly no-one trying to get him beyond Chelsea right now. Lots of clubs would like a Moises Caicedo, of course, but it seems there currently aren't any who are willing to engage at his selling price. They either already have what they need in that position, have other transfer priorities or just don't have that kind of cash.

But, going back to my point, it seems highly likely for there to have been contact and discussions between Caicedo's representatives and Chelsea already, and I'm sure that has the Albion's blessing or approval to some degree. We know Barber and Bloom always seek to do things in the right way, and I can't see them pursuing Chelsea for tapping up one of our players "illegally".
Agree completely. If you don't have unlimited money and you're sitting on a £100m asset who is one bad injury from being nearly worthless, of course there is a desire to sell.
As for it being Chelsea... we might not like them but I'm pretty sure Tony Bloom does. It's a silly, silly cash cow that never runs out of milk.

Intrigued why so many people think he will go for 80-85 million. That just seems like guessing to me. The noise from the club is we want 100 with as much of it upfront as possible. Exactly the same as with Rice- West Ham wanted over 100. That's what they got.

No add-ons? Surely they knew that was getting rejected.
It's an interesting game of poker, chess and cat & mouse isn't it?

With no other clubs seemingly interested, and a player who is likely to get twitchy sooner rather than later, it's a fascinating watch!

Why do people constantly refer to what he cost us in the first place in relation to what we should sell for? It makes no sense to me at all.

We brought him for 3 million as an unknown that’s what he was worth in the market then.

What he’s worth in the market now is a totally separate entity surely? Otherwise we may aswell just sell off all of our players for cut prices just because we brought them cheap and developed them.
Agree with all of that. But it's 'bought'!

And there you have it Mr Jacobs. In your own words “Brighton would be more flexible if Colwill was part of the deal”. But he’s currently not. So why should we be flexible? Why is it seen as being perfectly fine for Chelsea to stand their ground on Colwill but we’re the ones being unreasonable about Caicedo. £70m was bid in January & rejected, and he’s since signed a new contract. So of course we’re not accepting that now… & if like you say £80m is fair, well you havent bid that yet?! So how can you complain!

I'm not usually one for violence but I would pay money to see this guy punched square in the face. Ps he can take his specs off if he wants.

I think the problem with this deal is that add ons are no good to us as Chelsea are sh1t.

Maybe 85+5 will do it. And a sell on clause.
