£70m really is insulting
Bloom should tell his agents to go f**k themselves. Their job is to get the best contract for their client. Blooms job is to get the best return for Brighton for his investment. Its not for the agents to decide how much is a fair or good offer that Albion should accept, anymore than its none of Blooms business to decide how much Chelsea should pay Caicedo per week.'This point will be reiterated directly to Brighton today.'
I would LOVE to be a fly on the wall if that was done face-to-face.
It's clear TB and co have a figure in mind – and they've probably told Chelsea they won't settle for less. But it's probably nearer £100m than £70m, so why are Chelsea Todd, Losestanley and the rest of them pissing about with bids that they know will be rejected? Just stump up the money (or at least something closer to it) and get it done!
Maybe they forgot the “and Levi Colwill” bit.£70m really is insulting
It's a tactic that Man City tried with Cucurella. It didn't work. He signed for the team that paid Bloom's asking price. This is a Ben White - Leeds situation. We'd be strengthening a direct rival. He is 21. His value's not going to go down any time soon. Bloom will be making it clear that he doesn't need to sell and that If they won't pay what he's worth in this window, somebody else will in a future window. His agents obviously haven't been as smart as Ali Mac's dad was. He might have promises about letting him go for the right price, but his agents have no say in naming that price.I guess it's embarrassing for Brighton if caciedo kicks off again and acts like we are holding him as a slave !! So they can probably knock a few mill off the asking price by getting him riled up in public. So it's probably a good tactic and may make Brighton think about offloading him for less than desired.
It's dirty though so I hope we hold firm.
To reinforce that point, Caicedo has played Rice 3 times in his 18 month Brighton career. I know there's more to a team than one man on each side, but the aggregate score is 9-1 to Caicedo.if Rice is worth £105m - then considering Moises had him in his pocket Veltman style when we played them he is worth more - simples
or put another way - the thing is Todd he is twice as good as Cucurella - you do the maths
I make it 4 times - Cucurella, Potter, the game at the Amex and the game at the Bridge.Chelsea have been embarrassed as a club twice by us in the last twelve months with Cucurella and Potter. Both of their own making mind. Nonetheless that is why I can't see us getting Colwill and also why they are being difficult (in now expecting Moises to apply pressure behind the scenes) with Caicedo. That's my two-penneth.
Cue Colwill arriving and Moises off for £100m.
It does answer the question for me. Football club owners absolutely are worried about profit and loss. As you say yourself, a player is worth what others are willing to pay, which clearly isn’t £100m+. Ultimately we have to be realistic. It won’t be long before Caicedo starts his strop and you have ask how that will benefit the club. When the club reminds itself that Moises cost us 3m, it’s much easier to reconcile itself to gaining 'only' 87m gross profit than 97m. I admire Bloom obviously but he also knows he’s playing a risky game especially if, as has been reported, Caicedo's people are starting to leak stories to the press about Moises being ‘disrespected'.I'm sure in your head this answers the question but it really doesn't.
We are not a wholesaler only worried about profit and loss, we are a football team that does not want to lose a player unless we get a huge amount of money for them. It doesn't matter if we paid 3m or 30m to buy him, he is worth either whatever money some other team is willing to spend on him or a bit more to us to make us keep him.
This is a very good point. They may be a bigger club than us but as it stands we are fighting for the same Euorpean places. We'd be strengthening a direct rival.
Sorry, but that post is hilarious. Tony Bloom not being realistic, and playing a risky game?It does answer the question for me. Football club owners absolutely are worried about profit and loss. This is going to get messy very quickly IMO.
VeryWe rejected £70m in jan. how stupid are they?
TB knows what he is doing, if he wants to let MC sit in the reserves until Jan he can afford to do that
MC will go for £90M this window (or £70M +Colwill) or he will go for £90M in Jan
what is funny, that we play CFC on sunday in the states, all parties will be there
what would be great - if Colwill started for chelsea and MC for us - then at half time they swapped shirts and swapped sides
I think the £10 million you talk of is roughly £10 million in spending terms in Chelsea too.It does answer the question for me. Football club owners absolutely are worried about profit and loss. As you say yourself, a player is worth what others are willing to pay, which clearly isn’t £100m+. Ultimately we have to be realistic. Oh no it isn't...When you've accepted he's off, things like this are actually quite fun. It's all panto isn't it.
I'd be very surprised if MC is involved in any capacity on Saturday given he and Pervis only rejoined the squad yesterday.Look for Poch putting his arm on the shoulder of MC at final whistle
