He doesn't react to every dog but most of them.
My daughter got a rescue dog recently (half dalmation and half black labrador - it's hilarious as he has a few white patches and they've got black spots) and he has been taking anti histamines so that we can still visit my grandchildren. Charlie (the dog) seems to be ok with him (at the moment)

My parents had the same cross, he was very spotty though and in fact looked like a fat Dalmation with stumpy legs. He was very affectionate but oh how I wish my father had trained him, very powerful animal and boy was he stupid !

Charlie is 95% black with a labrador shaped head, his body and tail are Dalmation. His white (spotty) bits are his chest and his paws. He's 6 years old and completely trustworthy with the children. He's so soft and friendly.

I'm afraid that as my father was too lazy to train old Barney he grew up to be a very over friendly beast and although he meant no harm a six stone dog jumping up at you is not everybody's idea of a good thing.

do pets join us in HEAVEN? One for all the CHRISTIANS out there; do pets go to heaven?

Apparently not "Who knows the spirit of the sons of men, which goes upward, and the spirit of the beast, which goes down to the earth?" (Ecclesiastes 3:21)

but in the words of Will Rogers, "If there are no dogs in heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went."

I remember this when I was at my Catholic Primary school where we were taught by some Franciscan Nuns who were the best anti religion advert I have ever come across. Anyway they said that as Jesus was there we wouldn't need our pets and believe me that made several kids cry.

A couple of years ago, we had our pet Rough Collie put down (she was 16), and although it was obviously sad given that my brothers and I had grown up with her always being there, it was for the best as she could hardly see and had great difficulty walking by the end.

Mum still keeps the nametag from her collar on her door keys, and we have pictures of her around. Even though I'm not religious in any way, I always like to think of Sheba (that's the dog), being looked after somewhere by my Nan (who passed away a month or so prior), as they were quite close whenever Nan came to visit us.

My mum has the lead and collar of our family dog Bruno hanging on the key rack in her hall exactly where I put it 17 years ago when I came back from the vet. Just seeing it makes me remember him and smile.

What a terrible feeling it is.

Today i had to have my old greyhound put down.

He'd made it to 14 which was a grand old age for a greyhound.

I'll sadly miss me old mate.

Its very sad and he did live to a good age
RIP:down:

Sorry to hear about your dog TB but I'm sure he had lots of very happy years with you. It's so painful making the decision you did today but it was the last kind thing you could do for him so he didn't need to suffer.

Really sorry to hear of your loss TB.
I have massive respect for anyone who adopts greyhounds. My missus would love to adopt one, but we no longer have the room with our expanding pack of GSP's.

At some point in the future I'm sure you'll give another one a happy home to see out its latter years ...

When our rabbit died all 3 of my children were distaught.
Oscar had been with us for many years and my youngest felt it the most. I had a particularly difficult time as I had never skinned a rabbit for the pot before.

Dunno mate, have lost touch. Mind you I guess you have your own reasons for making that connection, being the sort of person you are.

I'd love to meet you one day though.

Hither (sometimes Thither)
About 12 years ago my mum's boyfriend and i went to watch the Albion. It was a Tuesday night at the Goldstone. The sky was heavy with song and nicotine, and frozen like an Iceland dinner. Clive Walker was playing and there was a chorus of both applause and gentle screams all involving the wording of Walker's nickname: FLASH. My mum's boyfriend's eyes welled up, a guilty tear shedding it's wings and drifting into his moustache. It was only later that night he told me his father's dog had died that day. It's name was Flash.
If we ever have a stadium again that has a roof and holds song we sing inside, do not name your pet after one of our current players.

That has to be one of the best descriptions of the Goldstone I have read.
