Comfort outweighs how I look for me..... plus got sort of tired of going to clubs with smart clothes on, just to have some wanker spill his beer down me, or put a cigarette burn in an expensive jacket.

Those of us of a certain age will remember Saturday nights were all about dressing up for a night on the pull & then having to face the inspection of the bouncers at places like Sherry's, (then the Coconut) or Buzby's. You had to have shoes on as well, as trainers always meant an early night, or a long wait for your mates in Grubbs!
So when did it happen that you didn't have to get done up likes a dogs dinner to get in somewhere?

Also, if you have any, post pics of those 80's Saturday night outfits!

at least everyone doesnt look the same! how boring, every weekend, trousers and black shoes. great!

I tend to associate people who like to put smart shoes on for a night out nowadays as the sort that feature in the WKD adverts

Same applies to casinos nowadays - at least the ones opposite the pier and down the marina. Just a couple of years ago I got refused entry as I was wearing jeans, but when I went down to the marina one last month I got in wearing jeans and trainers.

There are still clubs in (generally inner suburban) Dublin which require you to wear shoes and a shirt

They're generally inhabited by absolute degenerates in Primark shoes, Dunnes Stores shirts and a Ben Sherman jumper on top of them; have the worst fights imaginable and the highest chance of ambulances outside by about 11pm....
Er, think it's the same every except Brighton.

Don't get me wrong, I didn't think it was a good thing. I think it would be marvellous to see the binfest if dress codes were re-introduced though; & to see some of todays young uns all scrubbed up for a change.

i actually usually wear trousers....but that's because i don't particularly like jeans, but the trousers i wear are fairly casual (from 'jump the gun').......sometimes wear shoes as well

ALWAYS wear a shirt, but i do that all the time anyway....again, from 'jump the gun'

but i don't do this because of a dress code, it's just how i dress

I might start using the word "strides" now, I quite like it

Wasn't that long ago really. I remember about 7-8 years ago, having to go out in trousers etc, on a Saturday at very least
