A poll ? Nope. You're on the wrong thread.

I can't be ARSED with a poll, because any fat old Kemi can just point and click to vote, put on a stupid hat, some garish "gangsta" undersized clothes, paste it all over twitter/instagram and then just hoverboard off to another thread to type out some meaningless twattage. No no no. I'd like to know what your favourite BOND film is and WHY. That means replies.

My favourite Bond film is, without hesitation, Casino Royale. Craig completely reinvents Bond as a genuinely nasty bit of work, someone who is convincingly hard as NAILS. He's not suave, or coiffured, he's a refined thug in a tuxedo with a Double-O. It has the most sensational opening action sequence of ANY Bond film with that chase across the building site in Madagascar, culminating in the shootout at the embassy. It has an Aston Martin DB7. It has Eva Green as the filth interest. It has the best opening title sequence since the fleeting silhouetted minge in Octopussy, and a half decent theme song, which is subtly and beautifully repeated throughout the score in the movie. I think Craig brings oodles of charisma back to this character, easily the best since Connery (after the Benny Hill comic turns of Moore, the completely forgettable Dalton, and the no-hair-out-of-place yawnworthy Brosnan). Quantum and Skyfall have trailed in the wake of the mighty Casino. I'm seeing Spectre this week, I just hope it lives up to his first outing. Stop touching your EAR.

So what for you is the best Bond movie - and WHY ?

It's difficult as the Connery ones will always make me reminisce back to lazy Sunday's at home with the fam post lunch, and coming first had some of the best stories to work with so from this era I will say From Russia with love.

It stays very faithful to the book, and introduced me to the incendiary atmosphere of east meets west back at the height of the Cold War.

But of the more modern outings then definitely with you for Casino Royale. Quite faithful to the book and
Complete reinvention when it was needed which is as much Craig as it was the material he was working with.

Quantum was utter Pony and Skyfall was something approaching back to the best. Not sure what I think of the Spectre trailers so far and that worries me.

Think I've got to go for From Russia With Love. For myself who hasn't read the books it has everything I could want from a Bond film, gorgeous leading lady, gadgets I've always coveted (I still long for that briefcase) and I love the theme song. The opening sequence when you realise just how seriously they take Bond, even the bad guys have gadgets. This is closely followed by Goldfinger, and The Spy Who Loved Me, for the same reasons.

The Troubadour
The Spy Who Loved Me

Roger smashes the life out of some bird in a log cabin, blows away his pursuers whilst skiing backwards then skis off a cliff opening a Union Jack parachute followed by Carly Simon with the theme song.

Unbeatable really.

Up until the ball-tickling torture scene I thought Casino Royale was going to be the best.....then it went off the cliff craphouse, such shame. it's a cliche but I think Goldfinger is the best, lovely bluray transfer too. Classic Bond, that all the others mimic, therefore has to be #1.

Have to admit, have never seen one all the way through. Invariably fall asleep through boredom or just switch over. We are all different and they are just not my cup of tea.

Casino Royale is superb albeit let down by the explanation of the poker scenes which is reminiscent of Homer Simpson being dealt 2 aces. That's a minor quibble though with the opening scene being as good as it gets - shame it spawned so many pale imitations.

It terms of pre re boot films I'd go Man with the Golden gun.Alright Bond is rescued by a couple of school girls somewhere in the film but Christopher Lee was a superbly under rated Scaramanga.

Goldfinger is of course the correct answer. Connery, car, Pussy Galore, Oddjob, Theme tune and classic one liners. Best villain and fight, Robert Shaw in From Russia with Love.
Present day Casino Royale and Skyfall are great, booked to see Spectre this Wednesday.

Not really fan but OHMSS for me - best story, best soundtrack and best theme song.

edit: I've never seen one all the way through since Goldeneye though.

Certainly nothing with Daniel Craig in it - I find him completely wooden, charmless and characterless. The stories have always unrealistic, that's fine, but they now seem to have foregone writers and just go for special effects. I have tried to watch them but not one of the DC films have I stayed awake for.

The one where he kills lots of men and has sex with lots of women and leaves them all the next day; can't remember the name of that one though. I remember a bit of product placement in the film if that helps.

I liked it because he killed swaths of men, has sex with fit girls and wears cool stuff.

"The Man With The Golden Gun" I was 10, Christopher Lee was menacing and Maud Adams so, so hot. I watched it recently though and it was a bit crap but back then it was ace.
