Wolves.

Horrible town, forced to go in awful pubs. Always a welcoming committee by the subway. Plus they sound like utter mongs.

Only plus point is we usually get something up there.

Man United has to be the most overrated. But at least there are some decent boozers in Manchester. Actually you can say the same about Liverpool.

Out of the premiership Stoke and Reading already mentioned a lot. Cov's new ground is crap. Never liked Watford. Crawley is dreadful. Forest Green just for that f***ing hill! MK Dons for numerous reasons.

West Ham away is decent enough if you come from Hackney Wick and go to Crate/any other craft beer place in the area. The atmosphere is terrible unless they're winning, although we didn't make much noise last night but I'm sure that had something to do with it being January 2nd.

However I personally wouldn't bother going if I couldn't get seats in the lower tier. Was in the upper tier for the Hughton 3-0 and it felt like I watched most of the game on their ridiculous long screen.

Watching on the tellybox last night we sounded really loud, particularly in the last 15-20 minutes. West Ham were as quiet as chuch miceys nearly all game. WHU have always been a noisy bunch. Another example of "traditional" fans being priced out and replaced by football tourists?

In defence of Stoke, on a pleasant day you can walk down the canal towpath to the Bet365 Stadium and got a hot pre-match oatcake at a narrowboat moored nearby. The walk back is also okay early or late in the season when it's still light at 6pm (which, admittedly, rules out most of the football season), but although it is lit, I wouldn't fancy it on my own after dark.

Otherwise, I agree about Middlesbrough and Gillingham, and the Kassam Stadium is a very disappointing ground. Wycombe too - all those clubs that have moved from grounds near railway stations to distant outposts (see also Colchester) deserves low crowds and the opprobrium of right-thinking people..

That's a good shout. But at least there's an atmosphere. You can hear a mouse fart at West Ham. And, as an additional point, that was never the case at Upton Park which was one of the best away days.

True, Upton Park got a bit feisty at times. Stamford Bridge is a bit like this these days too. Must be soul destroying to go there every week.

Of the ones I've been too which isn't really that many I'd say Yeovil, whilst it was a long time ago and the weather was dreadful I will always remember just how bad it was trying to just drive out of the car park,nice pub on the estate but that's about it,Not that keen on Nottingham forest either once inside,found it so claustrophobic.

Forest is my favourite away trip.

It's funny people praising Hackney Wick, my mother in law moved there 25 years ago and even once the Olympics emerged it was a waste land. There was one greasy spoon and a chicken shop, miles of warehouses and my wife never used the station due to the frequent knifings. It is now unrecognisable, apartment blocks, venues and clubs, restaurants and bars, floating cafés and pop up eateries. Saying that last night they closed Hackney Wick Station and it was an extra 45 minute walk for me to reconnect to public transport to get back to Walthamstow.
Watford always seemed to be another street away and then when you got there it was a 2 mile hike round some allotments - and I was always running late.

Given the demographic of NSC, something you often mock, most of the board will have extensive experience of Gillingham and Reading, particularly the former! Walsall has twenty times the soul of West Ham. You 'hear' about Salford do you? And did you think Solly March was shit because you spent your weekends at Barrow?

I was on my way to that too, was nearly there when we found out it was off.

Of all time : Oldham away c1989/90 : open terrace, wind, sleet, terrible performance, utterly miserable experience .

I raise that with Springfield Park, miles away from the station and cow shed on a hill for the away end.

When I first went to Mansfield you couldn't get a train there. A can't remember any other ground like that. Had to get a bus from Nottingham. A line has opened now.

Seem to remember Yeovil was a strange one. Nearest pub was on a local estate.

Yeovil not in the 92 any more but otherwise would win hands down yes - impossible to get to, nothing around and in the open air when you do manage to get there.
