[Albion] What’s the song played at the end of today’s game?

Mrs Earle loved it. All the joy of a fantastic win encapsulated in her dancing up and down punching her arms in the air.

Personally I love it. I’ve got a couple of vids of the North Stand after the Liverpool game and yesterday which are decent. But I don’t know how to add videos 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’m fine with it but it now seems to have a tyrannical grip over post match celebrations. Everywhere. Just then at Spurs, and the light show shenanigans + freed from desire combo was on offer at Craven Cottage after they scraped a 2-1 earlier this season. Brentford at least seem stuck with Hey Jude - but why has it become the song of choice ? It’s a 25 year old eurodance hit . (I get the “x is on fire” chant has been around a bit and also it appeared to be the song of choice for the women’s euros “journey”) .

PS: for the contrarians on here - a quick look at any of the post match vids from fans yesterday show that the Amex was rocking singing along with it, with the North Stand leading the way,

Living in the real world.
5 years? Freed from desire was a mid-90s classic! Although, to be fair it’s only really been a football anthem since Wigan fans and then Northern Ireland fans repopularised it around 2016.

Talking of mid-90s classics, we really should be banging out Sach’s Ecuador on a regular basis.
That's what I meant. Been doing the rounds for 5 years or so in football grounds.

My complaint isn't about yesterday and I quite liked the light show alongside the music.

My issue is that for the last 3 games that we've won at home they've played the same songs whilst the players are on the pitch after the final whistle. There used to be a gap to allow us to generate our own atmosphere.

So, what I'm saying is, 1 off it's fine, but the same thing every game is overkill and stops us letting the players and Roberto know how much we appreciate them.

That said, we definitely can do more DURING the bloody game,,as the atmosphere could be better.
The kids love it ,

When they played it after the Liverpool game I thought it was brilliant shithousery from the PA staff because the last couple of seasons it’s been a song the scousers sing at the end (when they used to win matches) with their players all doing the dance in front of them - think that stemmed from a clip of one player (Milner?) singing it in a car ? Really made me laugh on that occasion but don’t rate it for after every match much

Absolute tinpot bullshit. Let us appreciate the players in our own way ffs, rather than having some generic women's euros theme tune crap forced down our throats.

You can even notice the players finding it shite, they couldn't wait to escape down the tunnel.

Awful.

To be honest any singalong type thing would work after a win. It’s a bit naff, but better than Sweet ****ing Caroline.

- the players were out on the pitch for ages
- it was all over football well before the euros
- but yes. Some fans don’t like it.

- The players took a while shaking hands with Bournemouth, then made a half hearted 'lap' that barely made it past the half way line and then straight down the tunnel
- Yes, but I have a sneaky suspicion that an Albion team assigned to 'improve' the matchday 'experience' were at the Spain match (which was a brilliant atmosphere tbf) and have decided freed from desire was one of the things people enjoyed most
- Lots around me in North were happily dancing away, but as I probably made clear I think it sadly detracts from the one time in the afternoon when we reliably make a good amount of noise on our own. Just think it is plastic and unnecessary. Being a brilliantly run football club with World class players and fighting for Europe is going to gain us a generation of fans on its own, generic music not required.

I might be reconsidering my “against” as it was the quickest I’ve ever got served after a game. After an “organic” celebration I’m often gambling that the post match bar we frequent still has some Harvey’s left by the time I’m served. Yesterday it was a case of realising that the players would never hear or see my appreciation of them while the rest of the ground dad danced to a tune that was too cheesy in the 90s and getting to the bar pronto.

Then again these are people who put on Sweet Caroline if they win a tenner on the lottery.

:moo:

Assumed there would be a thread about the light show.....search functionality is much better on this board than the old one.

Music is fine the light show however can f*** right off! Not only is it tin pot and the short of shit those mugs in Croydon would do you couldn't see the players properly. I wanted to see the lads as I applauded them off not have them disappear out of view every couple of seconds.

Agreed, normally I’d be nah..
however yesterday after a late winner, the players still on the pitch, and seeing the joy on my daughters face as the lights flickered and music blared out, I looked around and saw younger folk enjoying the experience, especially the children and they like it or not the future, a young Tony Bloom may well have fallen in love with club during that display.

I think us grumpy old gits need to take a step back sometimes from the self righteousness we have of being there in the dark days, because these are the days of dazzling brilliance.

bring it on
Alright then

But on condition we occasionally get Praise you at the end, and we NEVER EVER get Sweet Caroline
