[Albion] What’s the song played at the end of today’s game?

Standing in the way of control
Feels a bit cruel that what used to be the mild irk of being forced to occasionally listen to Fatboy Slim has been fully traded for a terrible 26-year-old house record played at every ground for the rest of time. Still, at least the fan advisory board went through the usual full and frank consultation with receptive club officials on this one. Plus it’s good motivation to leave the ground on the dot of the whistle.

I’ll be offering more on this in a 5,000-word collaborative think piece with Will Self on the decay of fan culture and dystopian effect of goal music in today’s Observer

Agreed, it’s f***ing annoying and actually stops an atmosphere building. I hate pre match music right up to kick off big time. Not too bothered post match
Miserable bit 😂😂

I don’t mind in the build up, but when the final de Zerbi shot hits the screen, then the players should commence walking out, and Sussex by the Sea should kick in, the timing is everything and unfortunately we got it wrong.

As for lights show, no, no, no!

Turning things around I wish we turn off the PA off, fans zone all that stuff at least 15min before ko and let the fans there in the stadium in the moment build the atmosphere...like back in the ole days...

The atmosphere before the game is usually awful ,yesterday the atmosphere was almost nonexistent in the first half , but definitely picked up as the second half progressed,
mind You nowadays the atmosphere is Never that good before a match , mainly because people are having a drink or a pie and don’t get to their seats until kick off

But everyone is still on the concourse at that time queuing for another pie or pint. Most stands are relatively sparsely populated until 5 mins before kickoff.

Brighton factually.....
Interesting how opinions of the light show differ.
Agreed, normally I’d be nah..
however yesterday after a late winner, the players still on the pitch, and seeing the joy on my daughters face as the lights flickered and music blared out, I looked around and saw younger folk enjoying the experience, especially the children and they like it or not the future, a young Tony Bloom may well have fallen in love with club during that display.

I think us grumpy old gits need to take a step back sometimes from the self righteousness we have of being there in the dark days, because these are the days of dazzling brilliance.

bring it on

My complaint isn't about yesterday and I quite liked the light show alongside the music.

My issue is that for the last 3 games that we've won at home they've played the same songs whilst the players are on the pitch after the final whistle. There used to be a gap to allow us to generate our own atmosphere.

So, what I'm saying is, 1 off it's fine, but the same thing every game is overkill and stops us letting the players and Roberto know how much we appreciate them.

That said, we definitely can do more DURING the bloody game,,as the atmosphere could be better.

Early on at the Amex they tried leaving a gap. It doesn’t happen with modern football crowds. Most people are still on the concourse having a beer and there’s only really any buzz once the teams are out. Bearing in mind the place is hardly a cauldron of noise DURING the match, expecting that 15 minutes before kick-off is highly optimistic.

It was a point of discussion in the car on the way home - I'm going to poll it.

But, yes, allowing natural appreciation and songs would be my preference.

With the PA blaring out, the best most can do is clap along.
I would say the correct thing is leave some time for the natural celebration, rather than music/lights almost seconds after the final whistle, and then after a period of natural applause/songs from the crown they can pump in the music.

How do you not know that song? Be doing the rounds for about 5 years now.
5 years? Freed from desire was a mid-90s classic! Although, to be fair it’s only really been a football anthem since Wigan fans and then Northern Ireland fans repopularised it around 2016.

Talking of mid-90s classics, we really should be banging out Sach’s Ecuador on a regular basis.

In West Stand Lower more seemed to stay than usual and us old uns seemed to enjoy bopping along to the music. Watching Ronald's excellent video North Stand were into it as well.
