But what if they refuse to do these jobs - like a large number do ? You then have a staffing shortfall. The facts are that a large number of jobs are there, but people dont want to be carers, fruit pickers, cleaners etc. We need immigrants to do these jobs - simple as.

Oh, and if your worried an "immigrant" will steal your job - work hard and stick to your contract, no company will be stupid enough to terminate it without good reason.
No such thing as refusing to do the job,why would you refuse to get qualifications or to earn money?
You're treating our 16/17 year olds like the unemployed losers we had before, which is very unfair.

We need to go back in time and get these youngsters into work,so they can grow with companies and gain experience,we had a university culture of dodging students of whom contributed jack shite til they were 26/27 etc.Half of all student loans taken are never paid back, that tells you all you need to know about the system. It was to easy to stay at uni picking 3/4 year courses one after another.

Time for a massive change regarding universities and getting these kids into work at a young age like most of us used too back in the day.The youngsters are on the scrap heap as we speak and they need help now!!

Anyway, stuff immigrants, what about out-sourcing? I've been posting a lot over the last couple of days as I'm currently 'between contracts'. My last employer has just outsourced all their IT development to India. I was offered the chance to stay for another six months, but only if I reduced my rate. An offer which I declined.

Damn Indians, staying in India taking our jobs. Why can't they all come over here and get low-paid jobs in catering?

Most people dont worry about immigration until it directly has an impact on their lives. Any man who says they could deal with an immigrant taking their job next Monday morning would be lying. Spare a thought for all of us British guys in the building trade now trying to compete with someone who thinks earning £60 a day is a fortune its become very difficult to compete with.
Yep that's the whole point that many on here can't grasp as it just doesn't affect them, people don't see any issues when it doesn't affect them.
Brighton doesn't have the issues that many places have

Reading this thread it would appear that the main issue with immigrants is they give the Bien Pensants a chance to bash the British working class. The native Brits are all workshy scrounging fat chavs who turn their noses up at low-paid jobs and if it wasn't for all those marvellous hard-working immigrants the country would come to a halt. Then the workshy scrounging Brits have the audacity to complain when the decent workers that the capitalist class have shipped in put pressure on all the local amenities. Not that the Bien Pensants would know about that as it's not happening in the areas where they live.

A crap poll that trivialises a complex and multi-faceted issue. Obviously just introduced so that said Bien Pensants can laugh when the inchoate rage comes out in poorly-thoughtout soundbites.

Oh bravo sir! You've been missed .......

I think one issue that hasen't been brought up is, this is a small island with over 65 million+ people living on it. Scotland is quite big but has only 5 million+ living there because there is a lot of mountains ect most immigrants choose to live in the south east. When does it get to the stage that the country is full up and can't sustain anymore.

Done a Frexit, now in London
I love a good rant about 'bloody foreigners' especially being one myself. Funnily enough, I don't feel bad about living over here, taking one of their jobs, shagging their women and drinking their beer. They'd be fuming if they found out I'm not paying tax. Roast beef!

Oh and since they actually do most of the jobs a lot of British people cant be bothered/wont do (Caring, NHS, fruit picking, cleaners etc) - Im all for them. To be honest, some British people, IE the ones who sit on their arses "proudly" claiming benefits could learn a lot from them.

The ones that come over simply for the benefits and NHS can be sent home though - but that is of course a minority......just dont tell UKIP that otherwise thats their entire campaign screwed.

And there lies the problem, all the time we are in the European union we have no right to choose who we want here and who we don't, just look at that :wanker: Anjem Choudary

Its obviously builders and the like who are feeling the effects most of a skilled mobile young and strong workforce appearing on your doorstep. It's also the reason that the sector is so buoyant as the developers are creaming it.

It's a long time since you lads were making mega bucks in the 80s

I have had to put right a few jobs that have been done by 'skilled' gangs of foreign workers, so don't be fooled into thinking that they are all master craftsmen! the building regs in this country are a world away from that in eastern Europe.
But I will say that they do have a good work ethic.

We have and could have our own young and skilled workforce. I take it you are not in the building game which is why you post nonsense.

Yep spot on. I could name many jobs that have been put right at massive cost after "skilled" foreign labour.
