Whats the furthest you've travelled to a game that was called off?

Crap Town
I remember going to Mansfield away circa 2000 and it got called off just as we got to Leicester on the train.

We got all the way to Mansfield before finding out it was called off , a Wednesday fan at Sheffield station had told us the game was off but I thought it was a wind up. We walked to Field Mill to view the damage the high winds had done the through the night , the roof on one of the stands had been torn away and some of the metal security fences had been flattened (meaning no need for Mansfield fans to pay to get in at the turnstiles had the game gone ahead )

I've travelled down from North kent a couple of times for this Friday night pre-Xmas fixture only to have it called off.

Once I was sat with Easy10 in our pre-match pub, both blissfully unaware that the game had been called off. yes, the pub was quieter than we expected, but it's difficult to know exactly what to expect on a cold Friday night before Xmas. If it wasn't for a phone call while we sat there, we could well have walked all the way up to the ground before realising.

Indeed. The hazards of being in a non-Sky pub eh.

Didn't we shuffle round mine for a game of Evo ?

Halifax Town for an already re-arranged night game, got called off about 30 mins before kick off, think it was the season we won League Two!

I was just pulling into their car park and it was p.....g down with rain and the game was called off . Went and had some fish and chips then a pint and then drove home.

Macclesfield for me. Bit of a weird one as there was no indication until we got there that the game was in any doubt at all - waterlogged pitch but it wasn't even raining. Took the opportunity to seek out Ian Curtis's grave while I was up there (as you do).

Otley (W Yorks) to Bath for the Rugby a couple of seasons back.
Icy conditions but Bath management were adamant it would still be on, as pitch was covered and blowers were on it.
Driving across M62, and down M6 and M5 I was getting updates from the missus from the internet. They kept putting the pitch inspection back, so I was getting nearer and nearer to Bath.
I was listening to the local radio down there and they called it off as I drove into the park and ride car park, an hour before kick-off. Didn't even stop, turned around and drove back home again (8 hour round trip).

One small corner of the pitch just over the try line was still frozan and Wasps requested it postponed (oddly enough they had a number of players on England duty at the time!)

Walsall for me too.

Got as far as Euston Station, when the PA announced that the game was called off.

Couldn't get a refund on my advance ticket, so just went for a day in Brum instead.

Not very far.

Oxford to Brighton for the Reading match that was postponed (won 3-1 in the rearranged fixture). My father and I were the last to find out as we rocked up to an abandoned and exceedingly dark Withdean.

Poxy Swansea in the days before mobile phones and with a knackered car radio! Thought it was bloody quiet as me and my brother got nearer to the Vetch field only to find the game was off due to a waterlogged pitch. What a miserable 9 hour round trip that was

Burnley, Norwich, Portsmouth but ironically i've never travelled to a BHA home game where its been called off also been to a lot of other games as well but have managed to find other games to go to instead.

I do know somebody who has travelled from Portsmouth to Truro in Cornwall twice to see a game for it to be called off on the morning match both times.

I also know somebody who went over to Ireland to see a few games who ended up falling asleep in there hotel room and waking up an hour after the game had ended and the same person who drove from Derby to Cowdenbeath for the game to be called off then drove all the way back to Portsmouth

Norwich, floodlight failure!
That was definitely mine, took both kids, my son and daughter. One of the coldest days other than any game at Oldham that I had been to, but I still remember my son (7 at the time) coming out with, cant they have a generator as back-up Dad. Perplexed I looked at him and said where did you get that from, straight away he said it was a debate in his 442 football mag the previous edition. Despite writing to Norwich asking for my money back, no way we can travel with 2 children mid-week, Delia ignored my correspondence asking for a refund. Probably couldn't understand the request whilst on her "cooking" sherry. Still I believe your ticket still held for the rematch and were presented with a voucher for a FREE pie. If I was to have taken that up for example I would have been not too much short of £200-£250 for 4 pies what with time off work for the rematch. Anyone of Norwich allegiance, if you are reading this, the way we were treated that day was nothing short of a disgrace, even your stewards were laughing
