I am what would be classed as a serious "comper" and spend an hour or so each day entering online competitions, I have been doing it for the last 4 years seriously. Have never paid to enter one but have been lucky enough to win a holiday to Vegas, holiday to Florida, Centre Parcs x 2, holiday to Canada etc along with some other big prizes £500 in Sainsburys vouchers, a watch and handbag worth £1000, a laptop etc I tend to win on average 10 prizes a month in varying sizes

When I first started doing it I thought it was impossible and people exaggerating prizes won but when you consider that on the last day of the month there will be 1000+ competitions ending that day and about 100-200+ each day of the month as well its a numbers game, the more you enter the more you win. What you win is where the luck is

I use the comping board on moneysavingexpert but as I say its pretty dull entering them - its like having a 2nd data entry job but there are people on there for have won far more than me

Blimey, where do you find all the competitions?

I use a site called moneysavingexpert run by Martin Lewis

The comping board is here

http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=72&pp=20&sort=title&order=asc&daysprune=-1

And there is a guide to starting here

http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=1014121

As I say its not for everyone as it is time consuming and it can take a few months before it starts to work - I was lucky in a way as I was in between jobs at the time so had lots of time on my hands but has been well worth the effort I have put in. If you do go for it I would follow the guide and make sure you set up a comping email, use Roboform etc as it makes it so much easier

There is a winners thread here as well

No, just curious. I didn't really think there were so many competitions I guess. Good luck with it anyway

I won a TV Times competition in 1993 - got a brand new Astra, and £1000 to spend in Kays catalogue. I hadn't passed my test though, so sold the car and went on a massive spending spree :)

I had a feeling on Sunday that it was going to be 3-0 to Sunderland. No idea why but just a strange feeling I had!

I got 100/1 on Betfair and put a fiver on it.

I was a very happy young man that afternoon!

I went through a phase of 'comping' during my lunch breaks (when I had a job with no colleagues I wanted to lunch with).

I managed to win 2 Grandstand Tickets to the British Grand Prix, £200, Tom Palmer's signed scrum cap (England Rugby Player), 2 tickets to see the Albion at Withdean, an adidas t-shirt, a rhino rugby t-shirt, and about £50 worth of protein shakes. More recently I have won a much coveted TSLR pin badge!

I need to start comping again really - the returns were good enough.
