I used to be a big Mary Chapin Carpenter fan, but haven't enthused about any of her releases since 'The calling' in 2006. I saw both her and Gretchen Peters within months of each other, in Worthing, a few years ago, and was disappointed that I enjoyed Gretchen Peters so much more. I can pay MCC no greater compliment than to say that she sounds like Springsteen in drag on this track, 'On with the song'. 'It must have happened' and 'Your life story', all from 'The Calling' album, in my opinion, are equally as good.

Where others lead I clearly seem to be following at the moment but I make no apology for following lasvegan's inclusion of Lucinda Williams. I finally got to see her live in July 2019 at The Dome and I wasn't disappointed - amazing songwriter, amazing voice and tight tight band behind her - all attributes than can be seen in this clip live from Austin, Tx

Had the Steptoe and Son theme on my 11am funeral, made the whole congregation laugh out loud and reminded me of great times with my Grandparents. ❤️

Heard this lovely song on Later which I just caught up from Friday. The warm sound reminds me of a mixture of Labi Siffre and Cat Stevens.

Yes, International Womens Day - This ones in a dark place I'm afraid - female hero definitely (both Nina Simone and the Mama in the song)
