We were seven points off a play-off place last season, 13 off automatic promotion and 23 off winning the division.

So how would you judge success and improvement next season?

Would you be satisfied with more points (even if it came with a lower finish) or higher position (even if we mossied it with fewer points)? Granted, we'd love to have both, but how would you judge a succesful season?

My point about getting the play-off place with fewer points could imply we are a lesser team than last season.

Poll to follow...

Play-offs would end the season on a high - tho last season's points total was ludicrously high

Or the piss-pot trophy final would be a nice little money spinner for being little more than average

Pretty easy to say this year, and much easier than last summer. Has to be play-offs, and I don't think the number of points is in any way relevant.

You sack the manager who got you to seventh, it makes it very clear to the next guy and everyone else in my book.

Also worth saying that 'success' and 'minimum requirement' are not always the same thing. One makes you very happy, without the latter normally the manager is at risk (though probably not this time).

But this season I believe they are one and the same. Success (ie a play-off spot) IS the minimum requirement. If not, why sack Wilkins?

Play-offs as a MINIMUM, but I'm expecting automatic promotion. Normally I'm one of the more pragmatic fans, given our circumstances I think we're damm lucky not to be playing Conference football, but sacking Wilkiins has raised the bar and upped the stakes. I was happy with seventh and the direction the team was going, but the club obviously weren't - which is fair enough. However if we don't at least make the play-offs then Adams should be sacked and Knight should consider his position.

Has to be play-offs at a minimum. The manager who took us to just outside the playoffs was sacked. So if we do any worse we look like idiots.

It has to be play-offs at least, but knowing Adams he will be eyeing one of the top two spots.
If Forster and Murray hit 45 between them and the new kiddie on the left chips in............ well we must have a chance.
20/1 I saw to win the title and Peterboro were as low as 11/1 with MK Dons not far behind that.

Don't think Wilkins was sacked for the league position
So I've heard, but unofficially of course as the club haven't had the balls to issue a statement giving the real reason. (Just the reason, i.e. 'unprofessional conduct' as opposed to all the gory details). As they're maintaining the fiction that this was all some minor backroom restructuring they obviously believe that Adams can do better, MUCH better, than Wilkins. Consequently I expect great things this season.

Anything other than a top six finish cant be viewed as an improvement.

Minimum play off place. Oh, & a decent money-spinning cup run too
