Acker, I too loved the Mummy duo - and even the Scorpion King with it's awful animation! Go into Mummy 3 with your eyes open - I think it's biggest downfall was replacing 'take that Bembridge scholars' with another woman - she just didn't gell with Rick at all - and even comments in a totally corny way at the beginning "no, I can definately say I'm not that person at all!" when asked if she was in the first mummy books.
GG, I totally agree, new Indy is far better than Indy 2 (although some people love the darkness of Indy 2, personally I dont) but it's not a patch on 1 & 3, I think because they tried too hard to introduce new young male lead, when he wasn't really very likeable. Harrison was absolutely as great as always, but having Marion back was tamed by her interaction with young male lead - I never believed they were a family unit. The ending after the aliens seemed a bit of an afterthought but loved the wind blowing the hat! Also liked the tributes to his late great friend, but think maybe one tribute would have been enough, rather than three (dialogue, statue beheaded and photo's and paintings). I've gotta love the film ultimately because, hell, it's Indy isn't it, and he's one of my top film characters of all time? But I was disappointed that it was capable of being a lot lot more and left me kinda "huh".... ok then.
