Back to Portslade at about half ten I think. We were on a hired driveway in Harrow which was only about 10-15 mins walk from the stadium, ideal.

It took an age to get through the Harrow gridlock after the game though, must've taken about an hour just to get back to the M25. But thankfully it was a pretty clear run from there, for once the M25 wasn't being naughty.

What else do you expect though, when 81,000 people are all leaving at the same time on a Sunday evening. It is what it is, as someone once said.
Basically it's the Amex times two and a bit. No matter how decent the public transport laid on for what is effectively an out of town stadium, it's always going to struggle to cope

Back home in North Wales at 12.15. Had to endure the arrogant Utd fans at the services which was nice. I don’t think I have come across such an obnoxious bunch of classless fans ever.
Yep, haven't changed in 40 years. Most of them are utter tossers. I remember being on the receiving end as a rather small 16 year old in the 83 final. And they were giving loads of abuse to much younger kids and women as well. Last night hardly saw any and the ones at Wembley Central (thanks for the tip @Weststander) were relatively quiet. But saw a few idiots on the walk there who really shouldn't be out of sight of their carers when it's dark.

9.45 back to Lewes. Parked about 10 mins away using the JustPark app. Not too much traffic apart from Hanger Lane as usual

Back home in Hove 10:20 pm

Used the Seagulls travel coach for the first time - excellent but arriving at the soulless bowl of Wembley at 1;30 was too early !

Thought I was going to win this. I live in north London and left as soon as the winning pen went in. Straight onto platform at Wembley Central. Home by 8.40.

The one positive from yesterday.
Think I can probably win this - live in Kilburn so despite a 15 minute wait to get in to Wembley Park it’s only 4 stops back. Small compensation for the planes, trains and automobiles it usually takes to get to the Amex for a Sunday fixture

11.55pm & I live in Brighton. Clapped the team off then walked to Wembley Central, fight nearly broke out on the train with Brighton fans and others who seemed to be sat down minding their own business. Got off at the wrong stop due to some confusion understanding a word the driver was saying over the PA because of the aforementioned twats. Was quite happy to get off actually, waited for the next train & got to Baker St just after 9. Tried to get into spoons for some food but junior clearly doesn't look anywhere near 18 & they said no.
Realised it was Sunday service on the trains so went to London Bridge and got on the 9.51pm train. Standing room only and there was another fight by the next set of doors down from us, that looked like it was heading our way. One guy was floored, blood on the floor but it was split up & the guy that was floored went to the next carriage down (he was apparently the instigator that had been seen gobbing off to loads of people). Got to Brighton around 11ish, walked to the taxi rank to find a massive queue & one taxi turned up in the 10 mins standing there. We walked to the bus stop eventually, got home and had beans on toast! :lolol:

Back home overlooking the theatre of trees at 10.20

Getting a coach for the first time, arriving at 1.30 was a bit much, but after trying to get to the Green Man, and being told it was already full while still only halfway up the bloody hill in the pissing rain, we retired to the Wembley concourse, found the Gin, craft beer and real ale bit, and kept ourselves occupied laughing by at Spurs for a couple of hours.

Bloody hell. You must've done an absolute BOMB there!

Made it home to Cheshire at 23:00 with a McDonald’s stop. But I’ve had pretty good practise being in the England Travel Club so make the trip down to Wembley pretty often. Park in the Asda Superstore 5 minutes round the corner from Wembley Park and you can get away fairly quick.

8:45pm and stopped off for chicken and chips on the way (as is the custom in these parts).
That has reminded me, on the walk to Wembley Central station after the match I saw this……not sure what is royal about it

Did you go to the Wembley Stadium overground station?
Yes, from our seats it was probably about 5 mins with little to no queues and about a 4 mins wait for the train.
Got the 8.21 from Victoria back to Upper Warlingham
I would rather of stayed in town for a celebratory beer but it wasn't to be.

That's the bloody place that after we'd done the sensible thing & gone to the entrance to Wembley Central Station, we were directed to go back up the road & turn right by the 'Royal' Chicken shop as the front of the station had been turned into 'Exit Only'! :lolol:
