Whenever has that stopped the intelligencia on here from making statements they wouldn’t if not sat behind a keyboard.
If anyone breaks sub judice rules then Bozza could end up in serious trouble so by and large people behave (and when they don't the thread is pulled).

Oh, and *cough* Intelligentsia *cough*

So you were in court and heard all the evidence and read the sentencing remarks in these cases? Given apparently all they did was merely shouting in the street?
No of course I wasn’t in court. But the most egregious cases were widely reported and went into some detail about the offences. The judges' remarks were also often reported in summary.

I’m not calling into question whether individuals should really have been found guilty. Many actually pleaded guilty. But it’s fair to mention there was widespread disquiet over whether all these cases should have been brought to court, and the (some might say) draconian punishments handed out to some. These decisions followed the remarks of Sir Keir about the Southport protests being "far right thuggery", and that those involved would live to regret taking part.

I am shocked that the intelligent people who do their own research and don't believe the msm hadn't yet worked out;

He hasn't gone on trial yet
He has pleaded not guilty
He is currently on remand
He is suspended from the labour party
Couldn't find out the sentencing guidelines for the charge he is facing
Didn't seem to read previous posts on this on this thread

Yet are already accusing the judiciary, the legislature, the security forces of two tier justice and perceiving paths of promotion from the Labour party

If that's the clever people in society, I'm glad I'm a thicky sheep
I am glad I have the nobbers on ignore as I'm not seeing and of the posts to which your are doubtless referring.

I only see them when someone I don't have on ignore replies with a quote (but I don't see the quote, only who has been quoted).

As with most of the right wing circle-jerking, most of the replies are simply other people I have on ignore giving their buddies a reach-around.
I never see that. Who would want to?
The benefits of the ignore function

Because the mods allowed it?
Threads are not pre-authorised. However, if one comment goes too far on this thread you can be sure it will disappear. I find it interesting that @shingle posed a question without the full information to answer it being available. Why do you think that is?

Er, all those early cases where there were quick convictions were cases when the accused pleaded guilty.

The only people with 'disquiet' about the sentencing were people who backed the 'no smoke without fire' narrative and who 'understood' why 'people' might think that the best way to respond to the Blackpool outrage is to burn down some Mosques. While "not condoning it of course. But...."

And you wrote all of the above with a straight face?

So what you are saying is that.

a) You weren't there,
b) you're relying on second hand reports
C) using a self admitted summary of remarks to underline your view
D) using comments made on social media by people who may not even exist and may even have known even less about the facts than you do as a barometer of accuracy

Right!

How many mosques were burnt down?

Don’t be so sanctimonious. Have you never had an opinion on something without having personal experience of it? I’m saying that I read the reports, many of which were quite detailed. Many people, I suspect (from both sides of the argument) won’t have got beyond the headlines. All journalism, by definition, is at least second hand reporting, and frequently third or fourth hand. I’m not really into social media at all apart from football forums. Never seen X or TikTok apart from stuff screenshot here.

None.
Our police managed to protect those that were attacked.

Are you pretending there were no riots, nobody pleading guilty, no imprisonment?

I'm not being sanctimonious, but on matters of legality then I tend to do a lot of research into the facts before commenting.

So if you dont do social media, I'm interested to know where you got/read/heard that there was widespread concern about the sentences?

The charges laid in August and September to anyone who appeared in court were already in law by Acts of Parliament.
The police, CPS, solicitors, legal clerks, magistrates and judges all have to operate within those Acts, as are sentencing guidelines.

No politician can single handedly change that.

I used the words appeared and if (both very important at this time) but doubtless I'll be back on here to discuss the verdict in a couple of weeks, that is if I get bored looking at the Argentine totty on the beach at Mar Del Plata.

Seriously though, thanks to all for contributing to the thread, sensible replies as always.

But it means that people have to assume both a charge and verdict to answer and those answers would be sub-judice. Still, thanks for confirming that this is really for two weeks time. To be on the safe side I'll lock it for now so Bozza doesn't get any grief and you can PM me to reopen it post the verdict
