For those unaware, Ricky Jones (Labour Councillor) is up in front of the beak shortly for comments made in public around the time of the summer riots where he appeared to incite violence, I'm sure many of you have seen the footage.

If found guilty, what sort of sentence should he expect. I would genuinly love to know what the great and good of NSC think about this.

What is he charged with and what are the sentencing guidelines?

That's pretty much the question really. Looks like 'Encouraging violent disorder'. I guess, if found guilty, it will fall within the guidlines.

Just far enough away from LDC
Usual sentence ranges from a community order up to 4years and 6 months in custody.

Maximum in extreme cases is 5 years.

Only those on court will know what level he ends up on this scale or whether there is mitigation for pleading guilty at stages ahead of trial.

Would suggest reading sentencing remarks before leaping to any conclusions on fairness of a sentence if indeed he is found guilty

Is this the guy who urged the crowd to 'cut the throats' of people protesting against the Southport killer? Will be interesting to see how evenhanded the justice system is.
I suppose the judge will need to look at what effect his rant had when sentencing if he is found guilty. If violence has been committed against protesters as a result of his outburst, I hope that is taken into account and that he is punished accordingly.

I am sure that whatever the verdict and sentence everyone will read the sentences notes, similar trials and other precidents carefully and thoughtfully before sharing their outrage about 'two tier kier' etc.

Luckily noone is already primed to do so.

As the trial is imminent please remember this is sub judice and neither guilt nor aquittal has been decided yet.
Whenever has that stopped the intelligencia on here from making statements they wouldn’t if not sat behind a keyboard.

Correct …with allegedly a representative of amnesty international seemingly showing a lapse of judgement in laughing at his remarks and the symbolic action he made.

He’s pleaded not guilty

Probably quite difficult as he's suspended from the party.
Yes but if you ignore the facts of the matter and prefer instead to go with the fantasy world inside his head, Starmer probably will promote him

….but then he’s only suspended…..acquitted and suspension lifted? (I dont believe for one moment he’ll get ‘promoted’)
I guess we'll have to wait for the verdict. Good job some of you aren't jurors.
