I suspect that if we had had proper carriers with cats & traps then I would have stayed much longer than I did. Through deck cruisers .... ****ing pieces of shit! The ‘Happy H’ is another matter entirely.

Has to be the Lockheed L1011 Tristar
Worked on these for 20 years in the RAF and flying as an engineer for the last 15 years..
Multi role aircraft......Passenger or freighter or pure freighter......AAR ( Air to Air Refuelling tanker) ..
Got me to many countries all over the world as far away as Fiji / New Zealand.

Unfortunately they were retired in 2014.

I used to have a friend who flew them in 5 squadron in Lincolnshire.

The Airbus A380. Mainly because I worked at Airbus for a year during the time it was being developed.

It's an incredible feat of engineering to get something this vast and complex into the air.

I was quite upset when they announced they're going to stop making them.

BA 747; upper deck business class. A private cabin with great food and drinks and the best cabin staff around. Flown to Oz, Canada, USA so many times and it was always the best. Sadly BA are retiring their 747 Fleet so no more.

The BOAC Comet with the jets in the wings was revolutionary back in the day, and led the way in jet liner flight albeit from one minor fault, the square windows, that brought them down.

If it wasn't for this issue it had the potential to take the Boeing market because it was well behind the Comet at the time, and all jet liners have pretty much adopted it's shape as the standard.

Silly me, I read the thread as 'aircraft'.
