What is the point of Molango?

What he means is - we have someone now who is costing us sod all, and in a year or so's time, we will have someone that we would not have had to shell out a fortune for.

Effectively, Molango is an over-age trainee. We have him on contract for another two and a half seasons.

Have a bit of faith in Mcghee people.
Molango is a promising player, is on low wages and has a future at the club I am sure.
People seem to have over-looked the fact that he is in a new country and it will take time for him to settle into the English lifestyle and for us, the differant style of play.

Ok, so if Robinson AND Molango are "ones for the future" we have only two forwards at this club who are in with a shout of selection, and one of them is injured.

If you believe what McGhee says then he's gone into this season with only two forwards in contention for a 1st XI starting place.

I don't understand why McGhee didn't keep Iwelumo if he thought he was short on strikers.

Iwelumo was offered a 2 year contract but wanted extra towards a house. The club said the contract stands as offered so Iwelumo didn't bother turning up for preseason training with everyone else or even bother contacting the club so after 3 days he was sacked.

I watched Molango and Robinson at the Albert Jarrett 'payoff' match at Lewes. Molango looks to have a bit of an attitude problem. I know he constantly gets offside and McGhee has said that whenever he comes up against physical defenders he just stops and looks at the ref as if he expected to get the decision. McGhee has told him he has to overcome that and carry on playin regardless. I presume he is being coached on these weaknesses.
He is on about the same money as my husband earns in a factory each week so doesn't cost the club much money but he is on a goal bonus so he has the incentive he needs to get himself into the first team.
McGhee has also said he is a similar player to Knight so wouldn't necessarily be a partner to Knight (reading between the lines and making 2+2 = 10 I think McGhee is expecting Knight to go at the end of the season and is working on Mahe to be ready then)

That's just my thoughts on the situation from what I have read.

Molango looked far from promising against Lewes recently. Ran around aimlessly and had no presence. How is he one for the future? Does he get a lot of run outs for the reserves? Does he impress there? Is he bulking up? It wasn't a physical game on Saturday, he could have quite easily have been given half an hour rather than Piercy being offered up for ritual crucifixion to the Withdean crowd. Same goes for Jake. Either could only have been an improvement.

Facinating reading this thread. Some think Molango is rubbish, others say he's [12 seconds] brilliant, some think he WILL be the business, but not ready yet, etc. etc.

In reality, it looks now like he was bought in just to cover Leon's suspension [surely not].

Yorkie - you said Molago is on a goal bonus. Could it be that we can't afford to play him just in case he gets a hatrick or something [I bet we'd all add to the A&K fund if he did]!

Bottom line is the selection looked wrong against Crewe and the bench looked very very wrong, and none of us can say for sure why we didn't have a striker on the bench.

If Jakey was good enough for the bench away at Crewe 3 weeks previously, what has he done since that warrants him not making the bench against the same opposition last Saturday?

I think if MM wants to keep the fans onside he'll have to start explaining himself [or put his hand up and admit he got it wrong].

I quite like the suggestion the MM & MM have had a big fall out. This would explain his rise and fall.

If Molango got a hat trick then he might just make what Leon earns in a week.

I think they have had a fall out because Mahe isn't learning to overcome his weaknesses as well as McGhee would like him to.

I think Mcghee is a bit of a task master and expects the players to pull their weight. Mahe seems a bit of a softie to me and McGhee has told him to toughen up. (again just my speculation)
