It will give the moaners somethign else to moan about.

McGhee rates him...

So do I.

If I had my way I would play Mcphee up front with Robinson. or failing that, Virgo upfront with Robinson.

Knight and Robinson would be interchangable.

Virgo and McPhee would be interchangable.

All are young and could be a big part of Brighton's future.

A fit Piercy, playing behind the front 2, like he did against Plymouth in January is something worth considering. How we accomodate both him and Currie is the issue, but Piercy is a talent, it is just in the last 12 months he has been very unlucky with injuries.

To be honest currie surely would be better playing just behind the front two. I agree Piercy when fit and in that roll could be usefull, however is he ever going to be fit?

McPhee has always looked good.... maybe that's what MM is waiting for..... hope it is anyway.

BTW... making the point again... I'm not moaning...we are exactly where I expected us to be... will be happy if we stay there.... but if we go down and we didn't look for a striker... that's another issue...

What was McGhee's plan had Knight got injured early on?
Stick Oatway up front? Molango & Robinson will never get used to this level of football if they are not tried out!
and as for saying Jarrett cost us a goal against Sunderland, and thats partly why he was overlooked,he's a forward FFS, talk about denting players confidence.

But Currie is pushing 30, Piercy is still early 20's. When Currie has played up front or in a front 3 he has looked a tad clueless, however in a natural wide position he looks the business. I think Piercy needs a slightly different role to him, so not sure the two of them could be in the same team. Piercy's best games have been with 2 strikers in front of him and a 3 man midfield behind him, which has allowed him to play in a free role. Currie's best games have been in a 4-4-2 formation, playing out wide, either getting crosses in or those crossfield balls he does. A guess Currie's strength, like Bechkam is his range of passing, with Piercy it is more dictating things from various parts of the pitch. Both of them in the same team at present is probably a luxury we can ill afford.

Couldnt agree more. I also think that Molango was a gamble that didnt pay off as i dont belive that Mcghee would have knowingly bought someone who was not going to be ready for the first team this seaon. Why else would he have played the first three games?

Having said that there is not much we can do about it now, as he is on a three year contract and no-one will buy him. Send him on loan to Crawley.

At least when jarret plays we look like creating something, defenders hate players that run at them and this boy certainly likes running.

He just needs to be a little bit more aware of his defensive responcibilities, but he is young and that will come with time.

I succeed that you are probably right on this argument

If McGhee rates McPhee like people are saying, why is he always bringing in somebody in front of him. First it was Benjamin, then Iwelumo and then this season he was picking Virgo rather than McPhee when McPhee was fit. Also McPhee has gone in for an operation today, so going to be out for a bit longer.

He played the first three games as Knight was suspended and McPhee injured.

He is on a three year contract because he will develop in those three years. Have some patience.

He would not get into Crawley's team.

Some people seem to think that players should come out of the first team and be ready straight away to play every game in the first team.

Look how long it has taken Hammond to break into the team.

On Hammond it is a good point. It just seems people are rewriting history by saying that McGhee is McPhee's biggest fan and will pick him when fit, when in fact in the past he has generally overlooked him.

With our current lack of goals, when fit he needs to be given a chance and I hope he does it, but to be honest, he looks like a grafter who will not get that many goals, but the fans will like because he tries, a bit like Virgo.

He clearly is not the answer but as we have no one else he will have to do.

McGhee said if McPhee was fit he would play every game this season.

Ok, so if Robinson AND Molango are "ones for the future" we have only two forwards at this club who are in with a shout of selection, and one of them is injured.

If you believe what McGhee says then he's gone into this season with only two forwards in contention for a 1st XI starting place.

I don't understand why McGhee didn't keep Iwelumo if he thought he was short on strikers. Did he think there was more money available then there actually was, to bring in somebody better?

Personally, I don't buy the lack of money argument. Our priority was a striker before we signed Nicolas, so McGhee did have some money but he chose to sign a midfielder.

Had Knight scored as many goals as we thought he would this argument wouldn't be as relevant.

He never was going to! He can't cut it at this level on his own and as many have said during games this season he's spent more time on his arse than in the penalty box!!

Leon is a man devoid of confidence as was shown when 1 on 1 on Saturday and gave Clayton Ince no problem whatsoever. His frustration nearly ended in a red card which would really have us up the creek without a paddle.

However, it might be a different story if a proper big man was playing alongside him. No disrespect to Virgs but he does not have a strikers mentality so is not likely to play Leon in very often.

Anyone got Iwelumo's phone number?? I'd put into the A&K fund to pay his hotel bill!! :lolol:

He's young, he's talented, he's promising, and I heard he's not expensive.

As McGhee said, when he signed him, 'One for the future'.

I find this very heartening - McGhee is looking to the long-term, not just at instant success. Which says something about McGhee's commitment to the Club.

Although it can also mean "I completely regret buying this donkey, he is utter toss"
