Not taboo at all. I believe history shows Powell to be at best misguided. I work in London, I sit with colleagues who can trace their origins back to all sorts of far flung places. We work with other colleagues, suppliers and customers all over the globe and there is nothing unique in what I do. There are literally 10s of thousands of people doing something similar, because London is a truly global city. I have benefited greatly from this and don't want to live in a little England or in a world where people want to fight over flags.

Seems you dont want to live in london either judging by your location, but then you're not unique on here in telling people how wonderful it is to live in a multicultural society, whilst actually living in a virtually monocultural one , very easy to do when your convictions are rarely if ever tested , how's social cohesion in shoreham beach ?

Why do you live in London Bushy? Serious question and not an attack. I readilyt admit I don't want to live in London, way too many people for me to feel happy there.

Spot on. Perfect post.

seriously? its just a load of cliches cobbled together. no ones denying londons a global city, its at best stating the obvious. there are plenty of major international cities where offices and workplaces are multinational, without the utter migration free for all that has occured in the UK.

there are plenty of people on here who are obviously reasonably well educated but simply not very smart.

Nearly every major city in the world has perceived immigration problems, almost without exception. People that hold different views to you are just as smart as you ,likely more so, they just are perhaps more adaptable to the way the world is moving. Of cours eit's not going to be perfect every time but it is happening, it's up to you to decide wether you wish to make the most of it or decry it as the fall of humanity.

in fairness shoreham beach has seen plenty of migrants, mainly the utterly vacuous london trendies. been good for the economy though so cant knock em. used to be an utter backwater! see migration does bring a shot in the arm.

You don't live in London!? Haven't you spent the last year telling me I have no clue what it is like as I don't live there yet neither do you! Hilarious, i'm rather amused by that. Oh, Bushy, you are a scamp.

oh nibble. believe me I am an adaptable man and very tolerant and receptive to other cultures. what I struggle with is an immigration free for all and the ridiculous coping strategies and propaganda that this country has used instead of facing the issue in a mature and sober way. it really grates to hear people who are unaffected, or benefit positively, trumpet the non policies that actively negatively affect their fellow citizens. thats not the sign of a compassionate society, its the sign of a rather smug and selfish one.

Sigh, nibbble we've been through this numerous times before , you know full well im an ex londoner who lives in haywards heath , i move out in 2000 , went back in 2008, and came back to haywards heath in 2010, in fact ive been back and forth between london and sussex for large periods of my life , attending schools in both , so i'm fairly qualified to comment on the differences , in fact if you want to talk about real racism , i'll talk about south london secondary schools in the late 70's early 80's , and it wasnt white on black.

but bushy I am not indigenous to London, I would just be another immigrant.

Plus I am not going to up sticks and move just so I can score a few points in an online argument.

People choose where they live based on a number of factors, nice surroundings, decent neighbours, schools etc levels of crime. No one chooses to make things more difficult for themselves and if that sounds to you like I am avoiding your cultural melting pot, there are plenty of predominantly white neighbourhoods, I would avoid like the plague.

pressure on housing, health, education minor issues like that.

Which we would have money to cope with if it wasn't for mainly white, upper class politicians and bankers stealing our money. You have fallen into exactly the trap Tories want you to. Blame anyone but the people that are actually causing the problem.

I wouldnt want to argue with a lot of your post , apart from the smug, self satisfied part about people " choosing" where they live , a lot of the white working class in london dont have a choice about where they live , and it grates for people like you to smugly extol the virtues of unchecked immigration and multiculturalism whilst its not your local health trust spending millions on fighting tb and a multitude of other problems amongst 3rd world imnmigrants adversely affecting other areas, its not your kids who are in a minority of 20 % in the classroom, its not your family that sees social housing go to " asylum seekers " and " high priority" immigrants , i.e families with kids, is it ?

No, you are quite right. Every problem in this country has been caused by dark chaps moving into London.

see thats insulting nibble you dont go to my local schools doctors or hospitals. we would have the cash if we hadnt imported a job lot of poverty. see you have fallen into the trap of blaming some phantom bankers when you should be blaming the people who thought it was in their mandate to divvy up what little cash we had left to give the third world a leg up and have em over for tea. at someone elses house.
