Surely this?

hasselhoff-david-photo-xl-david-hasselhoff-6210194.jpg

One morning in june some twenty years ago
I was born a rich man’s son
I had everything that money could buy
But freedom - I had none

I’ve been lookin’ for freedom
I’ve been lookin’ so long
I’ve been lookin’ for freedom
Still the search goes on
I’ve been lookin’ for freedom
Since I left my home town
I’ve been lookin’ for freedom
Still it can’t be found

I headed down the track, my baggage on my back
I left the city far behind
Walkin’ down the road, with my heavy load
Tryin’ to find some peace of mind
Father said you’ll be sorry, son,
If you leave your home this way
And when you realize the freedom money buys
You’ll come running home some day

I’ve been lookin’ for freedom
I’ve been lookin’ so long
I’ve been lookin’ for freedom
Still the search goes on
I’ve been lookin’ for freedom
Since I left my home town
I’ve been lookin’ for freedom
Still it can’t be found

I paid a lotta dues, had plenty to lose
Travelling across the land
Worked on a farm, got some muscle in my arm
But still I’m not a self-made man
I’ll be on the run for many years to come
I’ll be searching door to door
But, given some time, some day I’m gonna find
The freedom I’ve been searchin’ for

I’ve been lookin’ for freedom
I’ve been lookin’ so long
I’ve been lookin’ for freedom
Still the search goes on
I’ve been lookin’ for freedom
Since I left my home town
I’ve been lookin’ for freedom
Still it can’t be found

Geno - Dexy's Midnight Runners

Back in '68 in a sweaty club (Oh Geno)
Before Jimmy's Machine and The Rocksteady Rub (Oh Geno)
On a night when flowers didn't suit my shoes
After a week of flunking and bunking school
The lowest head in the crowd that night
Just practicing steps and keeping out of the fights

Academic inspiration, you gave me none
You were Michael the lover, the fighter that won
And now just look at me as I'm looking down on you
No I'm not being flash, it's what I'm built to do

That man took the stage, his towel was swinging high (Oh Geno)
This man was my bombers, my Dexy's, my high (Oh Geno)

The crowd, they all hailed you and chanted your name
But they never knew like we knew me and you were the same
And now you're all over, your song is so tame
You fed me, you bred me, I'll remember your name

Academic inspiration, you gave me none
You were Michael the lover, the fighter that won
And now just look at me as I'm looking down on you
No I'm not being flash, it's what I'm built to do

Oh Geno (oh geno)

For mine it's

Our House - Madness

When those strings kick in a wave of sentimentality always sweeps over me, taking me back to a time when things were fun.

And it's a great sing along too.

I get the same thing with that song, must be our age - birthdays are only 4 months apart. Gives me goose pimples and always makes me smile.

Yes we are showing our age :lolol:

But that's why Madness are so great, unlike alot of bands, the members of Madness still haven't quite grown up.

Which means their fans can also still be young at heart despite the receding hairlines and widening bellys.

Once a Madness fan. always a Madness fan.

not me. I kinda don't like them anymore and I can't say why.

Very strange as I still love the Specials, Bad Manners, Selector, Squeeze, Smiths, New Order, Stranglers, the Fall, Joy division, Nick Cave.

All the other stuff I grew up on.

Might stick Madness on tomorrow and see if I can rekindle the love.

Hope it rekindles your love. They will be a big loss if it doesnt. Their songs just dont seem to age as Tyrone said. Their Brighton concert just before christmas reminded me how great they are.
