Thread title was

Songs that make you think "...what's all that about then.....???"

It's from November. Can't see any obvious way of doing a direct thread link due to new NSC format, but heigh-ho, that was the thread 🙂
If I've ever given the impression my memory's that good, I can only apologise.
Anyway, if I were to phrase the question as per that thread title, we're more after "songs that make you think 'this would be awesome if the lyrics weren't so f****** shit'".
Bearing in mind, I'm really not a lyrics kind of a guy, but even I find some things go beyond "ignorable" to "actively bad".

In a pile of football shirts
I always kind of liked this in School's Out:

Well, we got no class
And we got no principals
And we got no intelligence
We can't even think of a word that rhymes,

I have absolutely no idea what any of the above even means, bless

Open another tab, go to NSC, search for the thread you want, then copy and paste the page as you would do for any external link.

Motorhead by Motorhead - "Fourth day, five day marathon, We're moving like a parallelogram" - great song, weird lyric

Off to see Half Man Half Biscuit at Camden in a couple of weeks. Some of their lyrics can be a bit left field as shown by this from With Goth On Our Side - a classic if only for the Cradle of Filth rhyme :

Now my overweight girlfriend
She sits and she crimps
Her mother's convinced she's
Communing with imps
Her brother's alright though
He's a good lad is Wilf
'Cos he's into Placebo
And Cradle Of Filth

(Another example below in my signature)

There’s a song by the 80s band The Monochrome Set I loved, called The Weird And Wonderful World Of Tony Potts. When I finally tracked dow the lyrics I was somewhat disappointed, they were shit.

Des'ree - Life

I don't want to see a ghost
It's a sight that I fear most
I'd rather have a piece of toast

Utterly shit lyrics.

As it has not been mentioned yet, Stairway to Heaven.

The whole thing Is nonsense sung so well you believe it has meaning.
I believe it was someone on here who pointed out that Robert Plant came to despise it.

Still a great tune though..

This is so easy. This is one of my absolute go to tracks. And the lyrics are hilarious.

A calm but steady flow. Accompanied by loud commands.

Motor power, force, motion, drive
Power, force, motion, drive
Motor power, force, motion, drive
Power, force, motion, drive, propaganda
On joyless lanes we walk in lines
A calm but steady flow
Accompanied by loud commands
Our strength is running low
Another hope feeds another dream
Another truth installed by the machine
A secret wish the marrying of lies
Today comes true what common sense denies
Rotating wheels are destiny in flame the city lies
Machines call out for followers far out into the night
The calls of the machines drowning in the steam
Another hope feeds another dream
Another truth installed by the machine
A secret wish the marrying of lies
Today comes true what common sense denies
The calls of the machines drowning in the steam
On joyless lanes we walk in lines
A calm but steady flow
Our strength is running low
Another hope, another dream, another truth
Installed by the machine, installed by the machine
