Anyway, if I were to phrase the question as per that thread title, we're more after "songs that make you think 'this would be awesome if the lyrics weren't so f****** shit'".
Bearing in mind, I'm really not a lyrics kind of a guy, but even I find some things go beyond "ignorable" to "actively bad".

Off to see Half Man Half Biscuit at Camden in a couple of weeks. Some of their lyrics can be a bit left field as shown by this from With Goth On Our Side - a classic if only for the Cradle of Filth rhyme :

There’s a song by the 80s band The Monochrome Set I loved, called The Weird And Wonderful World Of Tony Potts. When I finally tracked dow the lyrics I was somewhat disappointed, they were shit.
