It has to be a song that made a major change in music, it does not matter if you don't actually like the song.
This charted in 1969 a difficult time for afro carribean people both racial and musical, this song did so much to change that, it gave people both black and white something different to listen and dance to, it was huge.
Luckily, I also love it and here is a recent version of a timeless, epic single.

Ooh this is difficult. A classic indie pop number

Superb choice. I found some live footage of them on youtube recently. Magical

Time by Pink Floyd,
Listen to that loud and then tell yourself it's nearly 50 years old.

2 of my all time favourites (Sympathy for the Devil, Move on up) have already been used and I could probably go for a Beatles song but theyve been mentioned as well, so Im going for this. At the time I used to listen to it (Ok Computer, ad infinitum) and think "How on earth do you come up with a song like this?".

I would normally plump for Japan in situations like, this, Quiet Life or Visions of China for instance, but this single always gets me singing and dancing along whenever I hear it on the radio, so as far as singles go, this must be up there for me as one of the very best ever.

Got this free with NME some point in the eighties. They went through a period of releasing free e.ps which were sellotaped onto the front cover. Played it loads and one of the best hip hop tracks ever.
