How are you going to e-mail a file from your iPhone to someone with a Samsung D900 or a Nokia 6500 or a Sony Ericsson K850?

Indeed. There are uses for both. I use a Mac and an iPhone because they suit what I do best, not because I'm a mac fanboy who blindly follows whatever they put out.
The real question is -
Would you rather

Funnily enough, a huge proportion of my friends are musicans, DJs, sound engineers, music producers or radio producers and most of them use Windows as with ASIO drivers on Windows there is absolutely no justification for paying the Mac price premium for identical hardware anymore.
I personally use a sturdy-as-f*** Compaq Evo laptop with a PCMCIA Echo soundcard for any 'digital DJing' stuff and its got lower latency than any Apple/Firewire/same applications setup. And lower latency is generally enough of a killer to justify paying more, except I, erm, didn't pay more - I paid a fuckload less.

yes, Apple has never been cheap. its a bit like buying a Mercedes verses a Ford. both are very well made these days, though the Ford used not to be. The parts and servicing for the Ford are cheaper due to more sold, more garages and more 3rd party aftermarket parts. But people still want the Merc because its got that bit more style and quality feel about it.

Yes, Apple's PC designs are sleek, the fit and finish of its products are impeccable, and integration of the hardware and software is so tight that they generally just work. Plus they're cool, and people will pay more for cool. But when it comes to speccing out some higher-end components, Apple charges even more... a lot more.

You're missing the fact that they're absolutely identical components. Bit like Mercedes charging you more for the same oil that Daihatsu use in a service
