What is it with Mac owners?

look at how he slated the iPhone when it came out despite the fact being hailed as the greatest invention of year by many different sources.

An overpriced last-generation handset with virtually no features which was only hailed as the 'invention of the year' by a press which will do anything to fellate Steve Jobs.

And as proof, the fact that they've replaced it with something approaching last-years Nokia in features at a vaguely normal price somewhat proves this doesn't it?

I have more features on my iPhone than about 10 other top-of-range phones put together. I can't see myself going back to 'old' style phones now.

The only thing I miss is Bluetooth.

There are plenty of other smartphones with just as many features and apps, and these have been around for years.

4 phones ago I had an HTC handset on Orange with a SNES emulator, Word and Excel viewer, Media Player and new apps were coming out for it on a daily basis.

It is nothing new or ground breaking, it's just that the iPhone looks nice and has a supposedly cool reputation

What features do you have - other than multitouch - that even one Nokia or LG doesn't have? Let alone "ten others"?

My 18 month old Nokia lets me install applications of the kind you're talking about, has all the features you've had to hack in, and cost about £60. And it has Bluetooth, and Copy & Paste...

Far easier and more intuitive interface than the Nokia N's, borrowed a friends for a while before and it was horrific to use.

Internet (as mentioned previously) is so much better than on other phones thanks to the touch screen, never bothered with Internet on a phone until now.

I have a number of programs using the Accelerometer (thing that recognises when you tilt it etc).

Your 18 month old Nokia had emulators pre-installed? Im sure you had to 'hack in' also.

I have a fully functioning iPod on my phone, far better than 90% of media players.

To be honest it does come down to mac vs pc a bit again though. When installing features on a Nokia/other it can all feel very cluttered and slow it down whereas the iPhone keeps insanely neat and clean regardless of what I throw at it.

It HAS Bluetooth.....but I will admit it is not simple with it to send and recieve pictures etc. Again there are apps for that but I will hold my hands up and admit that it is a weak point.

Installing a Symbian SIS file doesn't invalidate my warranty now does it?

Bluejuice - checked up there, the iPhone has Bluetooth for headsets only, no file transfer, no printing, no nothing. My Nokia 6670 in 2004 did the full feature set and I got that for free. IPhone: iPhone Bluetooth Does Nothing But Calls

The only, sole 'innovation' of the iPhone is touchscreen, which the Qualcomm PDQ did in NINETY SIX.

I'll correct myself then;

The iPhone is the first GOOD phone to include all these innovations spread out over years of different phones.

The new version is not overly expensive, when I spoke to the guy at o2 regarding unlocking it he said go ahead, so you don't need to be on some crazy tariff.

And I know a lot of mac-heads are obsessed with how Apple stuff looks but lets be honest, most smartphones are pretty ugly, especially with a qwerty keyboard cluttering up the space.

I didn't think o2 locked their handsets to the network, unless this is an iPhone only policy.

The problem is when it comes to installing 3rd party apps, as I understand it, that like the first iPod touch you need to 'hack' the software so as to be able to fill it full of legal and less legal software and games etc. and this is what would invalidate the warranty

About 70% of my friends own macs. Almost all of them musicians, graphic designers etc.

It's the same as saying most PC owners are out of date and have no style. Both ridiculous arguments.

I use a mac because I play, produce and record music, and I want a nice computer that runs well, doesn't crash, and does what it does with style and finesse.

Mac = Zinedine Zidane
PC = Luca Toni (does not work)

If that makes me a w***er, I'd definitely rather be one than not.

the touchscreen is still the best on the market even after the introduction of the HTC diamond that alone is worth buying one for ..

as for not being able to send pictures to a printer via bluetooth, I think I really could live with that

Having already learned in this thread that Macs account for just 4% of the home computer market, to hear that a whopping 70% of your friends are Mac owners does rather perpetuate the idea that Mac owners are a sad, nerdy clique in that you are obviously selective about having Mac owners as friends because the law of averages states that you should have far more friends who don't own Mac's unless you are bieng deliberately elitist.

Not at all. Because I am a musician, most of my friends are musicians. Simple logic really.

Do you think I get them to fill in a 'Be my friend form' where they must state they own a Mac?
