What happened to crisps?

Afraid not. At least not that I've noticed. Every time my wife visits her family over there, she brings back Taytos for herself, cadbury's chocolate for the kids (Its nicer over there - creamier) and Rancheros for me

Oh nice - they do sell Taytos at Tesco if it's of any interest (at least the big one in Worthing does).

I'm off to Spain tomorrow morning. When there i'll expect the options of about 3 flavours up for grabs. Piddling. I might have a strong hunger for a Prawn Cocktail when i get back.

This made me laugh, not in the usual way that MB makes me laugh, but just by the fact it's TRUE.

(lightly salted is really the only flavour you should need for a nice crisp, foreigns know that)

What has happened to Monster Munch? We keep being told that they are no longer made, but suspect that we were the only people in SA that ate them so they have stopped importing them!

Still exist and gone back to "Old School" packet and crisp sizes too*

* was born in 1985 and they seem roughly the same size as the late 80's / early 90's MMs

I bought a packet of Rancheros at THAT game at Newcastle in '79 and they were 9p. I can remember this because my father had to intervene because I could not understand the seller's accent after numerous responses when I asked how much they were.

Back in the late seventies early eighties there were these things like really thin wheat crunchies, tubes of some description.

If anyone can remember what they were or even if you can get anything like them now I would be very happy.

Think they were called Potato Puffs. They came in cheese and tomato and beef flavour.
They were lttle thin puffy things. Use to sell them at St Marks tuck shop.

Why do they make multi-pack bags so much smaller than single bags? Just because I've made the decision to buy in bulk doesn't mean I want less crisps each day.

Exactly what I thought of when I saw the thread, used to be made by red mill and 10p a bag, now made by golden wonder and I have bought some from here before along with other old favourites

You really do not want to know.

White pudding is very similar to black pudding, but does not include blood. Consequently, it consists of pork meat and fat, suet, bread, and oatmeal formed into the shape of a large sausage. Earlier versions (pre-1990)often had sheep's brain added as a binding agent.

Can anyone advise where I might purchase a packet of Wickers? They were intricately latticed basket-like crisps. Chicken flavour was the best. I'm not usually that greedy, but I'd take a grab bag of these. Football crazy as well - small round bacon flavoured maize-based snacks. And, of course, Fangs, Bones and the Cheeseburger ones.
