Marquee Moon - Television
The Clash (not mentioned yet?)

Difficult to argue with The Stone Roses and Unknown Pleasures - two of the greatest British albums of all time

Music from the Big Pink: The Band
Argos: Wishbone Ash
Elton John: Elton John
Piper at the Gates of Dawn: Pink Floyd
The Doors: The Doors

If push came to shove and it just had to be one album, I’m in agreement with The Velvet Underground and Nico

Wishbone Ash Argus not Argos and not their debut album either!

Seeing as lots have people have already nominated the Roses how about this lot from the other end of the East Lancs who had a debut album at much the same time, equally wonderful in my opinion..

Is not a debut. It must be five or six albums into ELO's career

Oh, I missed that bit. Still, a great album.

I can only go buy albums I bought as a kid. So I'll run with Dexys and 'Searching for the young soul rebels'

I’ll contribute one the hadn’t been listed so far for consideration: Pretenders.

Actually, of course, it’s Led Zep.

Though possibly the most influential is Please please me.
