What do we need a new stadium for.

Basically Withdean is Lifeless, Wet, Too Expensive for the level of football on offer.

If all your worried about is the quality of football then why dont you f*** off to the premiership, you are supporting a league one team ffs.

That is no excuse-if you want to go, you'll buy a ticket. Is it really THAT difficult to buy a ticket to watch the Albion? Let's see: You have a choice of online, phone or in person. What more does he want? A personal ticket delivery service?

Sorry, but I'm tired of all the lame excuses for not buying a ticket. If you (not you personally) can't be bothered-fine, but let's not beat the club for the restrictions imposed upon it as part of the deal to remain at Withdean until Falmer is ready. It isn't rocket science-The Albion can only sell tickets within pre-determined guidelines. If that's too taxing then don't go. Things cannot change because people don't like the system-we're stuck with the way things are.

To be fair, I probably over-reacted to his original post but a bottle and a half of wine combined with the usual, ten seasons' worth of whining about ticketing finally made me lose it.

You're missing the point. Up until very recently, you couldn't even buy tickets on the day of a match. What about all those people who make their decisions whether to go or not on the day of the game, or those (like me) who have had games of football called off but are not then able to go to The Withdean because they needed to buy their ticket on the Friday? I'm not criticising the club for this, just explaining why some people who haven't been going to The Withdean may go to Falmer.

Atmosphere is a hugely important part of the football-watching experience though. The atmosphere at Withdean is non-existent so I tend to save my money for the away games and miss out on a lot of the home games as a result. Look at how high our away attendances are and how low our home attendances are. Speaks volumes.

It's going to be a similar situation at our new gaff though isn't it? ie All supporters need to be on the database; tickets via shop, phone, or online; available for people to pick up before the match at the stadium. That said, it'll probs be &/or a new-fangled 'swipe card' wotsit, but non STH's will have to go through a not dissimilar process to the current state of affairs. Or maybe I'm totally missing something here??*

*wouldn't be the 1st time - & it sure as hell won't be the last.

As it's you i'm going to try and make this sound simple :D:D

Smart cards are going to be the major way of entry to the stadium.

If you are a first timer at Falmer, then you will be able to get a paper ticket up until an hour before the game, at a ticket kiosk

Ticket kiosks may be available at Brighton and Lewes stations and Park and Ride sites. (I'm assuming you will need to register name, address details as a one off)

Once you have got your first paper ticket, a card will be sent to you for future purchases via mobile phone/landline/online. (Your card will be activated for purchased seat)

A separate card is required for each individual person, dad and 2 kids for example will require three cards.

All above details are via Martin Perry on the latest Albion Roar show.

Bleedin' cheeky bugger: my brain's still damp from Saturday!

ps I've got a funny feeling that people will come up with even more 'creative' excuses as to why they can't attend a game once we're at Falmer. Still, I guess a change is as good as a rest innit (possibly)?!

Hopefully they will allow fans to buy more than one ticket on their 'swipy' so, if you have occasional friends/visitors you want to bring along then you buy them through your swipy. The club would still know who purchased the tickets although they would not know the name of everybody attending, but do they really need to?

Can,t sell out Withdean for the biggest club in the league, the most exciting manager we have had for years, 2 good results in his 1st games, wonderful new ground on the way etc...surely these things alone would have got people going, but no bad weather, prices, withdean, etc. usual excuses,i really think the support isn,t there anymore to many people got out the habit of going,

Where have you been since 1999? FFS, we play at WITHDEAN AT THAT'S THE REASON!

I don't understand this concept of having to make an "excuse" not to go. Its not obligatory ya know. I hate this kind of one-upmanship when it comes to being a fan.

Personally, I have been to well over 300 Albion games in my 20 years supporting them but before last season I had been to about 20 games in the previous 5 seasons because I preferred to play football on a Saturday. My choice.

Recently I have been to a lot more Albion games because I have worked out a happy medium where I play some Saturdays and miss out others, as I am fortunate enough to find a club willing to allow me to do this. I generally save my money for the big aways because I enjoy them MUCH more than the home games. I have some mates who go to four or five aways a season and ZERO home games.

Once we are at Falmer, I may go more regularly to home games (certainly the overall experience will be more attractive) and perhaps to less aways, all of course dependent on how much I am playing football on Saturdays.

There are probably many others like me (not as good at being a fan as you) who may go to more home games once we are at Falmer, which is ultimately why our current attendances have f*** all bearing on how many we will we get once we move in to Falmer, and anyone with the intelligence of a gnat could realise this.

More importantly Withdean is and always has been a temporary solution, and we've had to fight to play there.
No new stadium, no club.

Not unless the club makes, and advertises wildly, that you can exchange CASH for entry at or very near the stadium on the day similar to paying at the turnstile in days of yore.

There seems to be a difficulty at the managerial level at the club understanding that we are their customers and its up to them to chase us for our custom and not the other way around. When they work that out then they might get somewhere.. oh and no more ex footballers trying to do a marketing / sales job. kicking a ball about all their adult life is not a qualification for developing a marketing strategy. Lets have a city marketing firm on the job.

Two small things;-
1. Adults want an adult football experience, not poetry, gully and all that jazz. Time and a place, the place is in the family stand, and leave the rest f the ground to have a football experience
2. Stop this irritating "Brighton ... & Hove Albion" screamed in the crineworthy ovet the top fashion into the tannoy. Sussex by the sea has class, now let it speak for itself

You make some decent points. But some of the less than Premiership class aspects of our club are actually what make it special. And I'd rather we didn't lose them e.g. not paying to be a mascot, manager attends corporate hospitality area, club officials very approachable, community links etc.

No, it's going to be one swipe card/one entry.
Each additional person will need a paper ticket for first visit, outlined in my post above.

Of course that may change within the next 18 months but that's the current thinking.
