With a capacity of 23 thousand at Falmer the club are going to have to be a little more imaginative than they have been in the past if they want to get decent crowds. To a degree I can see why they were reluctant to drop prices for the Wycombe game any more but at Falmer they are going to have to woo the missing fans and try a damn sight harder to bring in some new ones for the future.
If we are playing good stuff in the Championship it might help but its the crowds that watch you through the mundane campagns that define you as a well supported club or not.

I think 5k are going because they know it won't be forever. If it was forever only about 1k would go.

I wanted to go with two friends who'd never been before, but the club's ridiculous ticketing policy made it more hassle than it was worth. So we all stayed at home and didn't pay £25 for the privilege of getting soaked.

I hope the club reads such comments and takes note.

Because withdean is not up to current premireship standards so if brighton and hove albion the club wants to progress as the signs are it does then it is a necessity not a why.

The club has not been in a better off field condition finacialy or otherwise in the 40 years i have supported them, people can see whats happening at brighton and come the opening day at falmer the place will be full whoever we are playing.

The hardcore 5,000 ish that go to withdean week in week out whatever the weather have kept the club ticking over in mediocrity for far to long,i have never been more optomistic that this club will someday not to distant be a top flight club.

Totally agree &:clap::clap:for those 5,000 ish who do keep B&HAFC ticking over come what may.

But the restriction is actually the inability to get punters in and out rather than the amount of seats.

f***ing Hell! Are people like you totally f***ing stupid? I'll write this very slowly so idiots like you can understand: The Club has to charge what it does because of the costs of staging events at Withdean. Factor in the transport portion of EACH ticket and you might get an understanding of charges needed to help keep the club running at LOSSES EVERY f***ing YEAR SINCE WE'VE BEEN AT WITHDEAN.

Now, what were you trying to imply about the club taking notes? It's not the club needing to take notes-it's dimwits like you who don't grasp the economic reasons for prices being what they are.

To be fair he was talking about the ticketing system.

To be fair he was talking about the ticketing system.

That is no excuse-if you want to go, you'll buy a ticket. Is it really THAT difficult to buy a ticket to watch the Albion? Let's see: You have a choice of online, phone or in person. What more does he want? A personal ticket delivery service?

Sorry, but I'm tired of all the lame excuses for not buying a ticket. If you (not you personally) can't be bothered-fine, but let's not beat the club for the restrictions imposed upon it as part of the deal to remain at Withdean until Falmer is ready. It isn't rocket science-The Albion can only sell tickets within pre-determined guidelines. If that's too taxing then don't go. Things cannot change because people don't like the system-we're stuck with the way things are.

To be fair, I probably over-reacted to his original post but a bottle and a half of wine combined with the usual, ten seasons' worth of whining about ticketing finally made me lose it.

I cant stand bloody Withdean. When you have experienced the buzz and atmosphere of the old North Stand at the Goldestone, sorry to harp on, you realise what a soleless place Withdean is.

Wont be long until we move to a proper home, so hopefully we can get some sort of atmosphere going again.

We won't fill falmer except first day its opened and prem footy. But we will get neutrals from nowhere who will possibly convert etc we won't have a problem getting the crowds if the marketing pr is done right. Plus the old saying if you build it they will come. It will be useful for other things like gigs, world cup footy games etc

Won'6t get a World Cup game there - min capacity for a Word Cup Finals game is 40,000 and because of the expense to the FA of building the new Wembley, ALL England games will be played there for the next million years

I hate Withdean and rarely go (I see more away games than home). I can't justify driving 2 hours+ each way to sit in the rain, with no atmosphere feeling like miles away from the action. I will go to Falmer more and crowds will be bigger as fans will be bringing along friends, children, wifes etc who expect more than Withdean can ever offer. Every club has die hard fans who will go come what may - Without these people we would not have survived. For clubs to make money they need the 'average' fan to attend 5-10 home games a season as well. I remember the goldstone, I know what a stadium should feel like and Withdean isnt it and never could be. I also lived in Reading for the 3 years after their stadium opened and saw first hand the change in their fan base. ok, so not all of the people attending knew a lot about the team at first but the numbers went up (a lot of the time through away support buying tickets in the home end or from students moving to the area and wanting to see a game). I am sure we can get 10k+ in the new stadium in league 1 and more for teams like leeds, southampton, norwich, charlton with large scale support. In 5 years I am convinced the club will be getting 12k+ for every league game, even more if we are in the Championship.

I've been to Withdean in the rain too many times for my liking.

Let's face it: being at our decrepit hole just once - especially when it's pishing down - is one time too many (& it just adds insult to injury when we get comprehensively tonked; drenched & have to wait for a bus afterwards for half a bleedin' hour). :(

are we all forgetting something.i remember trawling all the way to gillingham,it was pitiful.we have a new grd in progress, paid for, this club has moved on a hell of a lot since being hammered 5-0 by crap like darlo, there will be more ups and downs but i dont think the crowd issue is huge in the big picture it will pick up.
