On the topic of personalised numberplates I think those who want ones should get it and those who feels that it is not for them should not get ones.

I'm sorry.

Are you saying someone who actively changes the letters on their number plate on the outside of the car they are sitting inside, so other people can see it......doesn't give a shit what other people think?

If you think I have my number plates to impress some random strangers you are barking up the wrong tree. I happen to like personalised plates (not ones they have to be “adjusted” to spell something though”) like I like Levis and desert boots, I genuinely don’t give a shit if someone thinks I am a dick because of it

I also happen to like what I consider are nice cars, they don’t have to be expensive or a status symbol either (I have never owned a BMW or a Merc) and don’t buy them to impress someone else, how ****ing sad would that be?

Or a lot of the people you've met are too polite to tell you

Most of my mates know I’m a **** and often tell me. The people I don’t care about can also think that if they like but yes I’d rather they didn’t just blurt out “I think you’re a ****”, this is true

Mrs Jakarta has a plate with her initials on it - I don't give it a second thought.

I'm not in the least bit interesed to do the same but that is what she wanted so hey ho...

Mine is a TS, by choice. It may not be as quick but better balanced and more suited to the chassis imo. Bussos are fabulous though, I had a couple of 3 litre 164s, fabulous long distance car and as they said at the time “best sounding engine this side of a Ferrari” Ridiculous torque steer and a foot to the floor getaway in the wet risked a “hello Mr Sheep” experience every time

That's really interesting. I had been looking at 2.0 TS Lusso Spiders as a summer toy too, but seem to have been blinded by that yearning for a Busso. I might have to revise my search parameters! Thanks :)

My old Beamer has got tinted windows and a personalised number plate. One of the worst business meetings I had in my whole career was in Malta, so the majority living there must be genuinely horrible :D

I speak as I find. Your bad meeting has nothing to do with the behavior of those drivers.
Unless, of course, it was a BMW owners club.:p

They are definitely not as desirable as a Busso to most but they are MUCH more reasonably priced. You will go around corners quicker in a TS, which is fun but be left for dead on a straight. How often do you get to use the performance on UK roads though? The TS doesn’t have the soundtrack but it still has a lovely rasp. Best idea - test drive both and see what suits you

Kids that nip around on electric scooters through busy city traffic, as I just witnessed in Portsmouth.
Oh and anyone from Portsmouth.

Years ago I saw the plate that matched my surname. It was available for£1,750. Mrswwombat said no.

It sold later at auction for £25,000.

Luckily I’m minted and know my surname!

this is why i think personalised plates are a bit  And def. Not for me.

If your name is indeed, mar 71n, then great. However, if, as i suspect, your name is actually martin, then they are just a bit shit.
