Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson, for the second time

He's supposedly got a new book out next year called Seveneves that sounds along similar lines to Anathem. Brilliant novelist, been meaning to read the Baroque Cycle again too.

Can't backtrack all the offerings but hopefully not repeating a fabby book I'm reading .... Shantaram by G D Roberts... really spell-binding albeit a little too deep philosophically... all about a black market gangsterish Bombay

I agree, my favourite is either the Heart of the Matter or The Power and the Glory. I have read most except the Quiet American so I might have to give that a read soon.

Just finished 'The Chalk Circle Man' by Fred Vargas, the first one in the series but the last one published (Weirdly). Now about to start 'Lamentation' by CJ Samson which i expect to be another excellent addition to the Shardlake series. Great stuff!
