Very interesting, quite shocking how Franco still influences the country and also the most incredible faux pas blaming ETA for the Madrid bombings

I've got his book on the international brigade in the civil war too but haven't got around to reading it yet. His newspaper articles on Spain are usually worth a read too.

Old Hunting Grounds and Other Stories by Yuri Kazakov - volume one. All about life and micro dramas in Northern Russia in the late 20th Century.If you like Russian literature I can thoroughly recommend it, up there with the best of them.

Also highly embellished, as Charriere admitted himself; a ripping yarn combining fact and fiction.


Just about to start A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. 720 pages, small font :eek: Anyone else done it? Booker shortlisted in 2015?
