Some would argue one of the reasons we're not winning is because of too much rotation.
How do you explain on the occasions where players have played well for a game or two but dropped thereafter?

Who has played well for a game or 2 then been dropped? I must have missed it, I am rubbish at remembering.

Exactly, this is what Potter does. It’s no reflection on the player

That's yours and others narratives. When we've won, or played well, we've kept the team largely the same. He made 3 changes between Sheff Utd and Palace, 1 of those enforced. I noted that West Ham and Watford who both won big games over the weekend both made 3 or more changes.

Or that it's never really happened, hence you've no examples yourself.

Looking back over the seasons I'd say Jahanbakhsh, Alzate, Bissouma & Bernardo have all played well in games and then be dropped. On the flip side, Webster, Pascal and even Ryan have played poorly at times and still kept their place.
I'm not slating these players at all, I just don't believe rotating the team has been beneficial. As I've said before I think Potter and the coaching staff have tried to be too analytical/strategic trying to keep everyone fresh and happy.

I've looked back at each of the wins (not hard to do...) and the side seemed to only change through necessity, or very few changes. My point is, that I don't think they are rotating to be beneficial to the squad / strategy etc. I think they are changing the team because what they see over 90mins, or a couple of games from a player hasn't been enough so they've tried something else. I think there are very few examples of any player having a very good game, then being dropped. Jahanbakhsh maybe. Not sure about Alzate or Bissouma or Bernardo - I don't remember Bernardo having such an outstanding game that I was shocked to see him dropped? Or Bissouma for that matter?

I don't know how many threads we had last season imploring Hughton to change things around and bring other players in.

We all see it differently, but I don't see any player being dropped who I haven't thought they'd been pretty ordinary in previous games. Yes certain players have been ordinary and kept their place. Funny you should say Pascal on the flip side, he's barely been in, I thought he was good at West Ham, then dropped the game after, he could easily be in your other examples and Mooy in there instead of Gross.

Aren't we one of the best teams for 'rescuing games' and 'positive impact substitutions'?

(Stuck record Stat)
The players coming into the team have, on the whole, been pretty good.
When they've then stayed for the next game, they've invariably looked like they were playing football as a second sport.

All have had good spells. What makes it even more strange is when a player plays one week and then gets dropped from the whole squad the next game

Well Pascal has 23 appearances this year which is one of the highest, Dunk has 26 for perspective.

We obviously have different views on the matter but nice to have a constructive debate.
I do believe there's a number of reasons why we are where we are this season. Unfortunately none of the players have really stepped up making it harder for Potter and the team but also I don't think the players believe in the system or are capable of playing the season.

It's 6th highest, and 5 have been as sub, so 18 starts from 28 games. Dunk has 26, all starts. Maybe more than I thought, but he is our leading assist maker (4) and does have 2 goals. With him playing we've won 5, drawn 8 lost 10. That's 23 of our 28 points earned with him playing. I'd have have him in behind Maupay every time personally.

That's gonna hurt a few on here.

It's worth noting that Grob relatively rarely plays a full match (because he's such a runny little bugger) - he's only had 33 90-minute games out of his 86 PL appearances for us so far.

Blimey, I'd forgotten him. We have so many Championship-level players. Balogun too, but he'll be off somewhere no doubt.

Balogun's more or less gone already, hasn't he? - out on loan until the end of the season at Wigan, and I don't think he's extended his original two year contract, which is up this summer.
