A supermarket becoming a pub? . . . that really is bucking the trend!

I might be wrong but am pretty sure it was a Tesco ??

I went to primary school at st andrews which is basically behind it, leaving in 1998 and only ever remember it as a pub so if it was anything else we'd be talking mid 90's at least

it certainly looks like it could have been a shop at one point

When I was a small lad I'm pretty sure it was a Tesco clothes store and then became Bejams (precursor to Iceland I think). Originally, well before anyone on here's time I'm sure, it was a Cinema I believe.

I remember it as a Tesco’s mid 1970s. Used to get my trainers from there!

utter hole, the haunt of choice for street drinking classes when they need a dump

A dire tourist trap for away fans, hanging round the station if it had 2 legs it would be classed as a mugger. Well worth the longer walk to pop into better pubs, seem to remember the Brickmakers arms was one.

It is a one visit pub, you cant miss it then after that you always do.

The "dump" as you call it is affordable to many people, but it's not very Hove is it.

A pub soundtracked by old men coughing. The classic terrible pub near a betting shop.

A thoroughly depressing experience going in there.

So don't go in there, you berk...

George Street, West Street, North Street and Marina are the four

The George Street one was undoubtedly the worst of the four but always seemed packed so I am surprised it's closing

The working classes ( and middle for that matter) being able to afford to live is soooo last century

Cliftonville used to be a great gig pub 80's/early 90's
