Back From The Dead
A supermarket becoming a pub? . . . that really is bucking the trend!
I might be wrong but am pretty sure it was a Tesco ??

Wasn’t the one in Hove previously a supermarket??

When I was a small lad I'm pretty sure it was a Tesco clothes store and then became Bejams (precursor to Iceland I think). Originally, well before anyone on here's time I'm sure, it was a Cinema I believe.
Went there briefly once, probably the most depressing place I've been
I know a couple of people that frequent but personally the place is a dump!
A pub soundtracked by old men coughing. The classic terrible pub near a betting shop.
A thoroughly depressing experience going in there.
It was. Hope the new owners bring back the electronic table tennis game thingy.Always thought that back in the 70's, the Cliftonville was by Hove station?

The lease is about to expireGeorge Street, West Street, North Street and Marina are the four
The George Street one was undoubtedly the worst of the four but always seemed packed so I am surprised it's closing

I went to primary school at st andrews which is basically behind it, leaving in 1998 and only ever remember it as a pub so if it was anything else we'd be talking mid 90's at least
it certainly looks like it could have been a shop at one point
I wish pubs would bring back the 19p a pint thingy!
In the mid seventies I could get five pints of mild for a quid
Reportedly one of 32 pubs nationwide.
Is that the one in George Street, Hove?
Might be a bargain for someone.
The Golden Lion Group?
