Tell you what would be class - that pub that is now a Student Union place in Lewes Road that used to have the lunchtime strippers. Kick out the little emo freaks with their jeans hanging round their arses and bring back the ladies. Granted - they all looked like moonlighting dinner ladies but think of the money that would pass through that boozer.

Hmm....it's tempting innit! I reckon buy up the Racehill at the bottom of Elm Grove and re-open it as a titty bar. It would be cheap as chips in the current climate, I reckon.

I was talking about it the other day, do you know what actually is going in with it? Is it staying as a pub or being converted into flats?

Dunno. The scaffolding has been there for what seems an age but I think builders have now moved in. If the Richmond is any indicator then my guess will be flats.

Wonder what happened to that sign they had which said "function room available for weddings, christenings divorces, wakes"?

I think it is going the way of the Richmond, pubs are finding very hard going at the moment.
Back on topic as there is no evidence to suggest that there won't be a social club at the stadium, why on earth does the Rev think there won't be one?

Quite. If you're opening a new footie stadium and looking for obvious money spinners then aside from the club shop then surely catering and booze would be top of your list. Of course there'll be a bar.

Mind you, I'd be more tempted to drink in the Hiker's Rest seeing as it's a proper Albion pub anyway and there's guaranteed NO away fans there.

Or failing that, one of the pubs nearer our end of Lewes Road - Park Crescent, Dover...

Yes I am looking forward to either drinking in Hanover and then getting the bus to Falmer, or drinking around the station and then over by train.
However if the new social club sells Harveys I will be tempted to drink there. If the club build one!!!!!!

I'll magic one up shall i?

get with the project! I'm not talking about a bar,i.m talking social club where you can spend time before/after games.
If you can find anyone who knows of the plans for club please let me know! I think considering we are 18 months off completion someone might know the layout and if they did they might have told someone. It aint happening

Social club schmocial club. It's basically a bar innit? There'll be a bar, don't fret.

And just for you, we'll call it a social club, just to make you feel better.

But it's still going to be a bar.

Don't worry, if they don't open a social club you can always visit Buzzer's new titty bar that he is opening!

Wasn't the plan for the refectory in the education building to double as a matchday supporters bar ? Now that part of the plan is on hold it does seem there is a liquidity problem (or something similar)

The stadium plans show six separate hospitality dining areas, plus a directors' hospitality area, plus 'gold' and 'platinum' lounges with dining facilities, plus concourses with kiosks. Ignoring the kiosks and the concourse areas, that's enough space to feed 2,610 people.

If ROTR thinks that there is going to be nowhere where you can "sit down with the kids for a no frill scram", he must have very exaggerated ideas of how many tickets can be sold to top of the market customers.

i think people who are expecting a large bar come social club ala shearers bar at newcastle might be disappointed as it is not shown on the plans anywhere that i'm sure of.

I love these panic/the club has cocked up, type threads. I for one KNOW that the club won't let us down.
