The pier is still there as I have just driven past it. Some more of it has fallen into the sea but it is not the bit already out at sea it is the part that is on the beach that is falling apart

Its gone now it seems, well ever since December 2002 storms really, but it was a real shame then. Even up to then, in its derelict state, it was a powerful image, envoking so many different thoughts. It should be a warning to Brightoners, thats what happens if Crooks and NIMBYs win
I'm not just talking about the football club, but all other developments around brighton, e.g: king alfred
Tom Hark said:It's also a warning that councillors need a rocket up their collective arses. Witness the pathetic non-action over the extra seats at Withdean over the provision of some additional poxy Park'n'Ride that nobody uses anyway. No doubt the Albion will fail to be allowed to cash in on another season in Division One due to the lethargy of these swine. I trust any of them trying a smug speech from the balcony of the Albion parade next month will be completely drowned out with a rousing chorus of boos just like last time

This building is WORLD famous. I was in Australia when it first started falling into the sea and it made the six o'clock news over there. What a waste.

Nothing.
The Northstander said:The Last I had heard is, due to the Palace Pier disputing the need to renovate (as this would reduce lining their pockets) the new plan is to re-build as it was at the very beginning.
In other words, the plan is to build it as a walk only! With no buildings on so the Palace pier cannot reject the plan as there will be nothing on the pier to compete with.
