Wes Browns red. No wonder Gus was upset!

Apparently the ref said because it was for the potential of the tackle. even though he won the ball it was way he went it.
Is this what it is coming to?

I'm afraid it certainly IS what it's coming to. Ref's are now forced - via Blatter & his wonderful mob - to make split-second judgements on whether any challenge/tackle could have caused injury to the recipient. Cards are then dished out (or not) depending on the opinion of the individual Referee. It has nothing to do with intent in such rulings. It's becoming an utter farce & takes another big step towards football becoming a non-contact sport. Bag o' shite (much like Browne's ridiculous red card yesterday). :annoyed:

I was rolling on the floor laughing. Clear red card for the keeper IMO but blatant attempt at cheating by Fletcher(?) who should have been sent off too.

A player I don't remember being very well known for cheating and unsportsmanlike behaviour either, Gus has only been there a few weeks and he's working his cheating, whiny, bitchy magic already.

The Sunderland red was definitely a coat throwing decision - never a red.

Bollacklassie was a red - went over the ball and caught the ankle of Hull player.

Did Giroud foul the Saints keeper in the tackle?

Agree about the Sunderland decision. Bizarre.
Disagree about the Palace red. Thought a yellow myself but obviously v. funny.
No. Giroud did not foul the Saints keeper. That was hilarious, gets funnier each time you look at it. Good clip on MOTD showing him switching feet a few times for an earlier clearance.

Brighton / Hove actually
It was a mistake, not a terrible decision. I could easily see at the time why it was given, and can now easily see after numerous replays that it was a mistake. Nothing to get your pants in a twist about. However, Gus' reaction was hilario and his after match interview purely menthol. So glad we're rid of him.

Yep it is funny watching him doing all his Poyet stuff somewhere else. The faces he pulls are excellent and the “I am so angry I am going to take my jacket off and throw on the floor” did make me chuckle.

Let’s hope he doesn’t get really angry and strip down to his underpants, or worse to make a point to the ref :lolol:

Gus ripping his jacket off, just showed the sort of character that our board had to put up with when things didn't go his way, no wonder TB went for a class act and professional such as Oscar after Gus.

Like other have said it was funny thou.

Cards are very much part and parcel of the game these days. Some you win and some you lose. Sunderland were losing anyway. Gus needs to grow up, take things on the chin and move on. Very unimpressed with him yesterday.

Poyet's histrionics were no different to anything we've seen from Jose Mourinho before where he believes his team has been wronged. The only difference I suppose is that Mourinho has a back story of success to fall back on and so people are more willing to accept him having a meltdown, not least because they feel he is 'entertaining'.

He took a good five seconds to make his mind up though and it looked like he had a perfectly clear view. It's the refs job to get it right first time no?

I thought they said on the MOTD highlights that Charlie Adam went down and stayed down after that challenge by Brown, the injury or faking of the injury is what has earned Brown the red card rather than his interpretation of the challenge imo.

On a side note, how was that chellenge on Suarez where he was left with stud marks on his knee not a red card when this was?

No wonder managers and players (and fans) hate the inconsistancy in decisions.

Or interpretted as caring and passionate about the club, the match, the result etc.... rather than someone who turns up and is just interested in pocketing the cash regardless of results and so on?

Does anyone else do The Wife Test? i.e. when the ref makes a decision that's so shit you call over your missus - even though football doesn't interest her - to get her verdict, because it appears so blatantly obvious to you the ref has gaffed?

Appeal successful. Wes Brown's red card overturned.

FA reject palace's appeal over Bolasie's red card, so that one stands.

I was telling the Palace muppets on here over the weekend it was dangerous play from Bolasie but they said I didn't know what I was talking about. The FA concur with my spot on opinion.
