You obviously haven't seen us play in the past month Trig!

For what it's worth, I think we will get 3 points from our nex 3 games and that will be enough to sneak 5th or 6th. But then the pressure will kind of be off us, most of our fans have given up on Holloway and the team already and most will be expecting a thrashing in the playoffs. If we can get back to playing how we were at times this season then we will be able to give anyone a run for there money, the playoffs are a lottery and anything can happen plus we always do better when we are the under-dog. It's a big if though...

Agree with this. For all the gloom about you at the moment you have enough from somewhere to get 3 or 4 points and sneak in . Like you say its a lottery and players find an extra level from no where.

We could lose the next 2 and you could win the next 2 so no one can call the form going into the play offs yet. If you go into them on the back of a win I think this really helps which is why I dont want us to slip up or mess with the team vs Wolves

You vs us could go either way. Impossible to call it with confidence

No, but all teams in this division get a win at some point, and you're a top half team so surely you can win one of them. Just looking at the league form, and you and Bristol City have the longest streak (7 games) without a win. Still, Millwall have lost 3 of their last 4, so there are points available.

For what it's worth, I think we will get 3 points from our nex 3 games and that will be enough to sneak 5th or 6th.
I'd imagine it's easier to win one game that to go unbeaten for all 3.

Indeed (except I don't think you'll be expecting a thrashing). Promotion is up for grabs, so the team will be up for it.

Only Watford (taking Hull for the auto) guaranteed a place ..still all to play for at the mo and to my mind any team likely too finish from 3rd to 6th has a good chance as any

How many palace fans are going to say this.

It's not a lottery it is down to form going in to the playoffs. If your playing well you have confidence and good team spirit.

No confidence and..... well you know the rest.

I don't buy good runs or form teams. It's 4 teams in the play-offs that if they can avoid injuries to key players, a dodgy ref decision there way, the rub of the green on the day, anyone can get through to the Premier League. Recent years stats would suggest i'm correct in this, it is not often the form team that wins the final.

As i said earlier, IF we get into them the mood should change from one of despair to one of hope as most of our fanbase think we won't make it and so it's a bonus if we do. We are a funny club like that, underestimate us all you want but i'd actually expect us to up our game and maybe even cause an upset.

Anyone CAN, be the worse teams are less likely to. It's definitely not a lottery, otherwise you might as well say the whole season is a lottery. Meaningless.

3 games or 46 games is a slight difference...

Although I don't completely disagree with you, you do appear to disagree with yourself:

Surely Palace are capable of one more win.

My comment was half tounge in cheek Trig, i am pretty confident we will get at least 1 win from 3 given the teams we are playing (touch wood). You know what 99% of fans at all clubs are like, when you lose a few you are the worst team in the league (there was meltdown on here for example after you took 1 point from 9 + 1 goal in 3 games in those recent away games against Bolton, Barnsley and Bristol City) and when your team gets a good win they are seen us one of the best teams.

There was quite a big meltdown after the Barnsley away match, as we'd just got 1 point from 9.

NSC was very gloomy.

Put it right with the following match on St. Patrick's Day, and everything has been great since :lolol:

Well that makes you odds on favourites then doesn't it ! Assuming you make them ?

I have a lot of sympathy with this viewpoint. The thought of Zaha or Murray scoring a last minute winner at the Amex to put them through frankly terrifies me. Plus there's the fact that when we played them at the Amex last year we were all confident of Brighton win. We know how well tht went. Likewise, this yer at the Amex a lot of us were not confident of a result while Palace were. We also know how(fantastic) that turned out. So, it seems forms plays little in these games.

However, meeting place in the play offs would be a monumental and legendary encounter. It would be era-defining if we were to win. Most of us think that our club has now surpassed palace-we have the stadium, the infrastructure, the fans and very possibly the team. The future should be ours. Palace don't feel the same, obviously. They point to the past 20 years of supremacy, their 35 years in the top two divisions as to why they are still top dog. If we were to beat them in the play offs and then go up what more symbolic changing of the guard could there be?

With that in mind, I've decided to embrace the thought of a Brighton - Palace play off meeting. The greater the risk, the greater the reward.

A very astute and accurate assesment. And one most likely to occur. I believe that Brighton and Palace will finish 4th and 5th in either order.

We currently require 3 points from 2 games to be certain of play offs, so no it is far from certain
The chances are we'll need a lot less.
