One thing is for sure, the whole BLM,kneeling thing has set race relations back decades. The taking of the knee is a gesture and it is political. Keep politics out of the beautiful game.

Quite spectacular, the mental gymnastics you have to go to to blame the people against racism in this situation.Yeah, they're definitely the problem. The racists are fine.

I agree, the Government SHOULD force social media to not allow anonymity, I’m not sure that is going to be possible, just look at platforms such as WhatsApp..
As for the Home Secretary, I am certainly not defending, nor would I abuse her by calling her “Uncle Tom” “choc ice” or “coconut “That is disgusting also.

The problem has been that despite the teams saying this is not a political gesture and not showing support for a political movement folk have still made an issue of it. Taking the knee pre-dates BLM by some time.

So if folk could just accept that, see the point that is being made, or let them get on with it and say nothing, there wouldn't be such a problem.

Nobody sets back race relations when they campaign against racism and discrimination. It is those who make an issue of it that do.

I personally wonder what affect it has really. But if they feel it is the right thing to do they can get on with it. I don't feel the need to act like a deranged primate when they do.

Personally, I don’t agree with keeping politics out of anything.

Politics affects every part of the life of each and every one of us. People who say things like “politics doesn’t affect me” are enormously short sighted.

For example, if you’re interested in sport, what about the selling off of school playing fields.

Why don't you start by posting on here under your real name and updating your registered email to a traceable one? Maybe it only takes one person to set an example?

quite interesting all of it.

Since the BLM started , the most vocal against it from my colleagues have been those with Indian heritage.

Really strange when they themselves prob grown up in the UK with issues .

There's every chance you're trying to reason with a person who may well get upset by footballers not wanting to wear or be associated with a poppy.

No no, not all, it is my belief that the events in America, with the Racist murder of George Floyd and the whole BLM movement and consequential riots and criminal damage that has ensued in the UK has divided the nation.

Thought I'd offer the option :)

I genuinely can't work out whether the goldfish brained idiot has forgotten he'd already posted it or if he's spamming and trolling an individual with it. As he's thicker than whale spunk I'm going for the former.

In all seriousness, if you are willing to engage in "good faith" debate, I'd be interested in your views on the LBC video above.

Could be a goer,we all hide behind anonymity on this forum, you certainly would not say some of the things you have to me in the last year with your real name and details,I certainly wouldn’t engage in some of the jousts we’ve enjoyed either..
As I’ve said to other posters in the past,I’m happy to send you my seat number, block and row via PM if you wish to engage in a chat next time we’re back at the Amex?

The BLM movement is a red herring.

Very few actually align themselves with the stated political aim. In fact, we seem to hear less about it these days. But we do hear a lot about discrimination and prejudice.

The conversation is moving on. I think you need to come with it.

Between you, Timmy and CR you've already breached enough of my personal info for me to only not take it further as a courtesy to Bozza.

The kneeling and BLM are a consequence of race relations being set back, not a cause of it. We've had successive governments actively promote policies that marginalise groups, that scapegoat others for their own failings and which refuse to condemn racism until opinion polls tell them that it's a good idea to do so. The fact it's been a topic of conversation for months and even more so now is a sign that there's a focus on relationships moving forward: even the Sun has seen which way the wind is blowing and changed it's tune. If anything is gesture politics it's the fickle politicians unable to stick to a point of view or principle in case it's unpopular. As for keeping politics out of the beautiful game? If politicians actually did what they were supposed to do then we wouldn't be reliant on a group of exceptional young men to be standing up in the way they are in spite of all the abuse and people telling them they don't know what they are doing and don't know what they are talking about. And if not them doing it, then who will?

In a few years people will look back at the booing of the taking the knee, at people thinking they have a right to tell black footballers not to fight racism in whatever way they see fit, at the rhetoric around race in this country, the way foreigners were scapegoated for political gain and just how willing people were to believe them while looking the other way and they'll wonder how it was allowed to get this bad.

More footballers making more noise please: a whole generation is coming up inspired by them and others, far more open to see the country as not exclusively for people just like them and no-one else, and I can't wait for them to be running the show.

Yep, there was no racism or division in the country before George Floyd was murdered. None whatsoever. Zero. Zilch.

We were all one big happy multicultural family.
