Ahh Newton Abbott does that include Totnes and South Brent?

no, Totnes is next door.

Anyway, as I said above, voting Green is far more of a national vote than a local one, in the same vein as people who vote UKIP, or Referendum party, and I don't think her supporters are under any illusions as to what she will bring. If she is a voice for their concerns in the country - and so far she is - pays some attention to local issues (and considering she completed your questionnaire, which I find amazing), and survives the boundary change, then I believe she will have that seat for as long as she wants it.

Well done Caroline, richly deserved, she's fantastically hard working.

I'll say she'll increase her majority. The boundary changes help her and the fact that she's been a very active MP will help her.

Plus the fact that HB&B will canvass for the Tories again - that must be worth a couple of thousand votes :)
All of this. She will cement her position, IMO.

Agreed. I didn't vote for her (surprise, surprise) but there's no denying she is an excellent constituency MP.

HB&B - did you really send her a Brighton quiz to fill in? Seriously, why?

She will come third behind Tories and Labour.

The government can to an exstent choose its election date so will dodge student term time, this is a bias built into the system by a previous labour Government that like all others does not miss a trick when it comes to undermining democracy and rigging elections when it built the red bricks.

Because of 2 universities this will favour the tories all over Brighton. wether Labour wins in Lucas's seat will depend on how many libdems go over to labour and how many will tacticlly vote to keep the tories out, the area being full of really wet stupid lefties.

This is hilarious - Agent Timmy not understanding one single thing about local politics in his home city, but squeezing his desperate argument out until his pips squeak.

Buzzer - he sent a quiz to all the candidates. Not even Agent Timmy got 20/20.

Interesting statement with one tiny flaw. From the first word to the last, it's total bollocks.

Slavishly following Timmy's political jottings doesn't make for an intelligent argument.

Except that the next general election will be held on 7 May 2015, this date will be enshrined in law under the Fixed-term Parliaments Bill 2011 which is part of the Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition agreement.

but you knew that, not being a really wet stupid lefty

Fixed term is bollocks. When you know the date years in advance 1.5 of the 5 years will be spent on the campaign trail like in the US.

HB&B. Can you reproduce the quiz on here?

I think it went something like this.

Hello my name is Timmy and I'd like you to complete my quiz please for my school project.

1. What is your name?
2. What is your favourite colour?
3. Who is your best Brighton player ever?
4. Did you like my quiz?

Thank you.

Love Timmy aged 7 and 3/4

Do not trust ANY politician they are ALL in it for themselves. Lucas is no exception. Got on a bandwagon which served her self promotion well. Good for her.

Really, is that the quiz he sent? And to all candidates?

It was. And as I pointed out at the time, Tim got at least one of the answers wrong as the Big Yellow warehouse didn't used to be Dentsply (that was the building opposite) but SE Tyres. I used to work there.

You do have to ask what sort of person sets a quiz, makes it public but doesn't check whether his answers are right.

From a non-party political viewpoint, I think Mrs. Lucas might do well to make the outwardly feminist statements a bit more low-key. Nothing distresses the voter when choosing a candidate for local rather than national reasons more than perceived agenda outside of serving their constituants - the perfect example being snubs to the likes of Lembit Opik whose 'celebrity' agenda took over his political career, leaving him a laughing stock and out of a job in the process. If Lucas carries on with "celebrating the female achievement" I believe she will risk losing many of the fence male voters who perhaps don't want to be brow beaten about how women 'at the top' are undervalued or too few - with these votes going back to Labour I cannot see how she would get re-elected.

I have a lot of time for Lucas - I genuinely think she is one of the few who is actually doing that job for all the right reasons, but I do feel her comments can come across like something of a rallying call, which - even in Brighton - could well upset the voting centre middle class.
