The Rwanda deterrent is huge success then,,,,,

See my post above.

Of course the data could mean that the numbers have fallen drastically and we are simply now much better at catching them. Under the leadership of Johnson.

What a guy

Surely Albanian's have as much right to seek sanctuary in the UK as people from other unsafe countries

Record breaking channel crossings.

Taking back control.....of being useless. Well done, thick Lizzie

I'm not one given to defending Truss, but the ever growing channel crossings were Johnson and his merry band of Brexiteer's doing fair and square

Channel migrants: More children crossing to UK since Brexit as official routes ‘can’t compete’ with smugglers

Rising numbers of unaccompanied children have been trying to reach the UK via Channel crossings since Brexit as charity workers warn they “cannot compete” with people smugglers under post-EU migration rules.

In 2018, just 25 under 18s were recorded as crossing to the UK via the Channel. In 2019, this was 308. But in 2020, following Brexit, the figure rose sharply to 1,449, reaching 4,321 in 2021. This year’s figures are set to exceed last year’s, with 1,866 children recorded as crossing the Channel from January to June alone. The figure will see an uptick from the summer months, when good weather means that more Channel crossings take place.

what surprises me more than anything is why Brexiteers aren't seething at the betrayal and are more vocal? or is it the media filtering out all the dissenting views and only peddling the gammony flag shagger opinions?

What happens when we run out of hotel rooms to house them?

What happens when we run out of hotel rooms to house them?

This initiative could help ease the problem of finding accommodation in the short term. Long term though the government needs to up the ante with a significant house building program designed for the needs of refugees and migrants .

Brits offered money to house Channel migrants amid record numbers and soaring hotel bills

Now private contractor Serco is offering people contracts of up to five years to take migrants in themselves to deal with the numbers.

The offers will guarantee rent in full every month, and will also cover maintenance costs, council tax and gas and electricity bills.

That is going to cause absolute havoc with the rental market (thank god I own).

Rents are going to sky rocket for people.
